The Decimator is the premier AV weapon. It kills MAXs ridiculously easy, kills spawn tubes and generators in record time, and does a decent job on vehicles. I can't explain why they'd throw it in with the mighty Thumper and Rocklet Rifle all for a mere three credits. It makes no sense.

The Skyguard's flak cannon is a superlative AV weapon, even more powerful than the Lightning's 75mm cannon. I know this because I got into a point-blank shooting match with a Skyguard while I was in my Lightning and he won. It's an AA weapon, why does it explode at very close range? The TR Burster MAX doesn't do that... its flak shells do 0 damage if the target is too close. It makes the Skyguard's machine gun merely an afterthought and a second-rate weapons system.

I'm hoping these problems will be corrected at some point. For everyone who whined about the Striker, let me tell you that I ditched that thing for Decimator and almost double my anti-MAX kill ratio. It's one of the few weapons that doesn't even need to hit to be deadly. If it splashes the ground anywhere near a MAX, the MAX takes megadamage, and if used by a competent player in alt-fire mode can hit a MAX at quite a range by detonating it near the MAX. Striker is a one-trick pony basically, and I can't envision myself using it while the Decimator rules the roost.

The Deci is definately the premier MAX killer at close range, but the AV weapons have the advantage against the more menuverable vehicles and aircraft. They are also better against anything at range than the SA weapons are.

You also have much more damage potential with AV than you do the decimator. Though the Deci can deal damage quickly, you can deal more total damage via AV without restocking ammo.

A Decimator deals 1200 damage (3 shots at 400 damage per) and an Agile suit can carry four of them. That's 4,800 damage, enough to kill 3 spawn tubes.

Are you sure a full load of AV ammo can outstrip that? I'm not positive on the damage numbers for the AV postpatch, though.

BTW, it only takes 3 shots from a decimator to kill a spawn tube.

Did the calculations, and wow.

Phoenix=250 damage per missile x (1 in launcher + 12 in fully decked AV inventory)= 3,250

Striker= 125 damage per missile(right?) x (5 in launcher
+ 20 in invintory)= 3,125

I'm not sure on the Lancer damage, so I cannot post stats on it.

You can fit just 3 decies in a reinforced armor's inventory, not counting rifle slots, and 4 incluedeing 1 rifle slot. This amounts for the same damage potential as an agile.

Phoenix= 250 x ( 1 in launcher + 18 in inventory)= 4750

Striker= 125 x (5 in launcher + 30 in inventroy)= 4375

As you can see, Veteran was right about the damage output. a decked-out SA agile can do more damage than a decked out AV reinforced. However, I might add that the Deci is a compleatly unguided shot, and a slow shot at that. Better at close range, but next to worthless outdoors.

The Decimator is only good against immobile or very predictable targets. Ergo it is sort of the Jackhammer of indoors and makes using a MAX inside interesting. But outdoors if the driver is smart it is all but useless. Frankly even post-nerf the Striker is still the premiere outdoor anti-MAX weapon, and it does very well against other kinds of vehicles too (even air, still.)

My primary complaint is that one agile trooper can destroy three spawn tubes without having to access an equipment terminal. I bet 4 Decimators would kill most or all of a generator also.
