Simple enough, post your 3dmark2001se Scores. Overclock, underclock, do whatever it takes. DON'T lie. It'll be obvious if you do, and I'll mock you forever. Do not mock others scores.
I got a 7870 with everything set normal, I OC'd and got a 8360.

I'll try it with my AMD + nvidia combo and my AMD + ATI combo. See which one scores higher. I have a feeling the ATI one since the system that houses it is overall a bit better than the other one.

ATI usually score higher in benchmarks and lower in game performance. Usually the case. :p

Well they did test the Radeon 9700 pro against the ti4600 and the radeon beat it in in game tests. Think they were using UT2k3 as the test game in the article I read.

Install dx9 again, then go back and reinstall catalyst 3.0. It has to be done in that order. I added another 30 to my score by doing that, and it fixed every problem I had.

I'm running 512mb of Samsung pc2700 at pc2100 speeds (Turbo mode in bios). pc2100 turbo is actually faster than pc2700 default timings (and it's such bad ram it can't do pc2700 turbo :()
I had my cpu overclocked to 140fsb for that test, and have OCed my GPU quite a bit. :)

Quick question.
Do you know of any benchmarking software that deals with Audio performance (both recording and playback)?

It is very very odd that you only get 40 fps in cs.
I used to have a p3-933 w/ a gf4 4400 and I always got 99 @ 16x12.
Heck, even with a pure gf2gts I could do that.
Have you installed the intel drivers for your motherboard? My old pc ran slow as hell before I installed them (they enable 4x agp for one thing)
one way to check is to look at your device manager and see if you have any system devices with a yellow exclamation mark by them.
edit - btw the onscreen fps display in cs tops out at 99, if you type 'timerefresh' in the console you can see a more accurate fps number. keep in mind that it is dependant on your surroundings though.

3dmark2003 will be out within two weeks
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=7279
Ok i did what you said,
I checked and i found 1 unknown, but it was for my printer.
Then i tryed reinstalling the intel utility thing that came with my motherboard(suppose to help)
And updated teh graphics card to the latest.
Then i updated my motherboard to the latest version.
it seems to go better i suppose if i turn of vsync but still no 100 fps continuoisly in cs.
Can any1 suggest anything else.
amd athlon 2200+, 100gighd, ati radeon 9500 pro 128mb vidcard, 512mb ddr ram......hope i got what it takes to handle such a game...can somebody tell me how to test my pc so i can rate it to see how many points i score? thx alot...j03y
yeah goto

and dl 3d marks 2001
thx tazz, ran the test and scored 10,400+, forgot the exact number :P but how does that rank among other pc's? is it decent? o, can u or somebody tell me how to tweak my pc to run at optimal performance? my pc freezes up alot when i play online games, like bf1942 and mohaa. thx...oh, btw...i have windows xp if that makes a difference on how to tweak my system, thanx again...

tazz: Does it stop RIGHT at 40? You might just be playing on a bad monitor that has a very low refresh rate... WinXP will lock your refresh rate too, and maybe if you're on a bad monitor it would even drop it to 40... not sure though. Just curious. :)
What about in other games?
can somebody tell me how to test my pc so i can rate it to see how many points i score? thx alot...j03y
Bloody hell thats a nice score.
Anyway 3dmarks has just what you need.
Its called the results browers.
When you complete the benchmark, just click on the big button that says(i think) Results Browers.
Then you will probably need to sign up or what eva.
After that, you can keep your results in their database and compare your scores to others.
That should be what you r looking for.
Ok ive been playing cs with my new configs and im been stable at 60fps. The reason why is that i have vsync enabled.
If i disable it i get 90 fps nearly constant which is ok.
If it my monitor which i doubt, i would never get rid of cause its a flat screen 15". Well its a flat screen, and that counts alot, plus im saving for a P4.
To tell you the truth, the only other graphics intensive game i have that ive played with this card is BF1942, and i tryed 1024 res at high, but my fps is shocking like 20, so i put it down. That pissed me off.
I think i might pull out morrowind, heard that was great to test out a card.
Thxs for your help powdahound, its probably my settings or some shit like that. But i seemed to have tryed everything, and at the moment it works and thats something, so im gonna leave it for now.

I updated my my chipset drivers and my score didn't go up. :(

RD @800mhz
you could try
Tweak Town (http://www.tweaktown.com)
They have some really good guides to help you get the most out of your graphics cards(not all overclocking).
I tryed some of the things they said and it help slightly.
i just overclock in BIOS ;)
how do u overclock, and what exactly is overclocking? thx...j03y
:scared:
Over clocking is making your processor go faster in a sence then its supposed too.
Sputty
2003-01-24, 01:30 AM
You ahve to know how to edit the Bios to overclock. Overclcok can burn out the processor though so get lots of cooling if you do it. Know what you're doing before you try.

Nvidia just plain sucks in games because of no FA and AA... I'm an ATI convert after having experienced FA and AA. Games look soooo much better and run silky smooth whit not a single smeared looking texture and no jaggies! I'm not going back to Nvidia til they get some real AA and FA hehe.
Edit:
Look here for a comparison of screenshots whit and whitout AA/FA for those who dosn't know what i'm talking about. (yes those are not the best shots to see the difference but it's all i could find)
