i was wondering. (not always a good thing) if i cant sleep 1 night before school, and i wanna get on PS at 3am, will it be night on the server? is this going to be real-time? like it gets dark and the sun sets at 6 PM?
sorry if there was a post like this already, and if its mentioned in a producer, or on PS-universe.com already a link would be much appreciated.
thanks :D

There are day and night cycles, but i believe they go by every 2 hours or so. Basically two or so hours of day, two or so hours of night. Would be kind of crappy for people who don't stay up at X hours to not get the entire day/night experience.

they couldnt make it so that it was a 12 hr cycle 4 ex. cus then if it was set by america time, then england woud get bout 3hrs day (hypothetically i dnt knw the actual time diferance) so the wd get pissed off. plus this isnt really a real time game. think about it if you wanted to mount an attack on say iraq for example :p (wow strange that i wrote that we SHOULD ATTACK IRAQ) lol.then it would t5ake more than a five minute fone call to a mate to organise it.it shdnt bt it dus.

I thought I heard somewhere it was 6hours of day 3 hours of night..... that would mean that if it was day when I played at 3 today, then at 3 tommorrow it would be more dark,a nd on the 3rd day, night, and so on and so on...

It's almost too bad there isn't more of a balance, night-fighting would be really fun, having to rely on radar and motion-detectors and such gadgets...night-fighting should be enjoyable to say the least

I think the cycle would have to be something that doesnt fit perfectly into a 24 hour period.
If I can only play 5pm to 7pm, and the day/night cycle was 4 hours, technically ingame I'd play in the same time of day - every day. Thats if the cycle was a division of 24 perfectly...
...if you wanna do the math, it means I dont want to see a day/night cycle thats 2, 3, 4, or 6 hours long, cuz ingame it'd be the same time I play. If the day/night cycle was 5 hours long the ingame day/night cycle would be offset by one hour each day I logged on at my 5pm to 7pm window (because 5 days gametime means 25 hours in a 5 hour day - one more hour than in 'teh reul werld').
If it were something like a 7 hour day/night cycle then I'd be playing dawn for a few days, then afternoon, then eve, then midnight. I'd enjoy the game more if I jumped online to a different point in the day.

Aw man, I'd like to see it considerably longer than that. I hope its not so short that whether its day/night is irrelevent. I'd like to see squads have enough time to co-ordinate assaults and different times of the day.

That's true Ragemaster, I didn't think about it from that angle. I withdraw my rant ;)

nothing is set in stone, this could change during beta

My wish would be to have the continents mapped to a globe and given appropriate day/night cycles. Then it could run realtime and the 7PM guy gets to play in both environments.
Edit: Actually, make that 2x realtime. Long enough so that fighting a battle into the night is something to speak of, but faster than a 12 hour cycle. I think a 6 hour cycle would be nice, but map it to a globe anyway kthnx.
