View Full Version : Will Bombers/ SmokeGrenades/ Flamethrower/ TeslaCoilGUn be in PS

I was wondering if they were going to add any of these to PS because it would make it very cool to throw a smoke grenade down where you would want a bomber plane to drop its load at. Also it would be cool to have a flame thrower against troops to watch them burn. A Tesla Coil WOuld be cool for long range burst attack where it does splash damage to everyone around the radius. Hits first guy then shocks other guys around that guy doing lesser dmg to the other guys.

Well if anyone can give me some feedback i would appreciate it.:D

Smoke Grenades and Flame Trowers WOULD be a nice addition to the game, Smoke Grenades especially for infiltrators, but Tesla Coils???
Guess someone's been playing too much C&C lately :D

No smoke grenades, would cause too many problems and make everyones FPS drop.

There is a strike aircraft but no way really to mark where you want them to bomb. I wouldn't mind seeing something like the Tribes 2 laser designator or beacons.

No flame throwers, again would cause to many problems.

Tesla - well there is the Lasher (a Vanu weapon) which is kinda like a Tesla.

Originally they were gonna put flamethrowers in, but then they realised the lag/fps issues it would cause if you got 30 guys running along with flamethrowers

I'll settle for no flamethrowers and no smoke grenades, but bombers?, now thats just another diverse vehicle that could add strategy to PS.

Well I dont see bombers for release, but I hope they stick somthing in for a patch :D

I wouldnt mind seeing smoke grenades, you could accomplish it with LOD levels without dragging too much on framerate, and it'd add a extra element squads could use in strategy. Smoke grenades are also a weapon that wouldnt be over-used I think. It does no damage, and unless you plan to use it strategically you'd stick something else in your inventory instead. Like a normal grenade.

Flamethrowers I agree would cause exessive framerate drop, and I personally think Flamethrowers ruin games. Its just not really strategic, sure you have to get close to the enemy, but then its a case of aiming in the general direction of a large body of people and hitting fire. And I'd hate being set on fire, its just bloody annoying. It'd be a zero-skill weapon and in a game aiming for twitch gameplay I think it'd be entirely out of place. To futher on a flamer's crapness in a title like PS, it'd be a primary weapon so you'd need to give out lots of ammo. You could spam it, which would suck.

In with the smoke grenades!!! WOOT!!!

I'd say that the leader (platoon level), might be able to mark on a visible map where suspected enemy is for strafing runs. With the other technical advancements they've made in the game, I'd say this is a logistical possibility for those with decent CEPs.

I think it would be cool if there were radio transmissions if you're on the same continent as the enemy force, something like "An army of 150 vanu have been spotted at coordinates blah blah"

ok, modulus. no offense but i dont think you get the whole MM aspect to MMFPS. flamethrowers, could be good. but there are a lot of problems that could go with them. and unless you want to spend another month waiting as they balance them out then i think we should all be quiet on the subject. lets at least wait until after release before we ask for things. bombers would be interesting and no doubt be a huge asset for an attacking force, but on the defensive side theyd probably be a HUGE pain. i mean as of now, i dont think there are any ground-to-air missile defences (turrets i mean) for bases. i may be wrong. if there arent then definately no bombers because its not fair. if there are then it does even it out somewhat. plus, you could get a bomber and scour the countryside for enemies. as soon as u see a tank or footsoldiers then they're as good as gone cause they cant really fight back well from the ground, unless properly equipped.
i do agree completely that smoke grenades are a good idea, even at the FPS cost. i do want to flame you for even mentioning tesla, but i wont. remember that to make this game successful its all about balance. if some people have an unfair advantage then it wont be fun and noone will play. its a lot different if you were against hundreds of bots, for the simple fact that bots do not complain - people do ;)

i think we should see a mobile turret adition

a mobile turret that is good for base taking, it has to set-up, then it has a mortar and an AA function, both on a fairly long reload time, and this tirret requires the gunner to be semi out in the open (waiste up exposed) so they can be sniped and defenders aren't just SoL when a big turret comes to the seige. it'd be a 1 man vehicle, the driver would have to go into seige mode (like starcraft) theres be a set up time (so you couldn't effectivly use it solo and whipe out a whole force) and then you are the gunner.


this would be like the bomber only not airborn, therefor more vunerable.

uh, why not use a tank for artillery or MAX/Tank/Buggy for AA?

Thank goodness. I hate the flame grenades in sof, I can't imagine having to deal with no talents using flame throwers. Nothing like indoor combat with a guy that an incinerate a whole room.:eek:

That'a a good point. I think, if they were to put in flamethrowers, it would have to be aMAXes weapon rather than an infantry weapon. Too annoying and easy to just cover a room in flame.
