Meh, I think a lot of people are going to be dissappointed with outfit ownership. For me personally it's a neat thing but I'm pretty indifferent about it being added.

Thats it just outfit base ownership ? they should add the lodestar as well whenever they get it done. Plus the base is gonna be friggin expensive to buy need a cr5 to buy it (witch the CDL have one thank god).

I'm with Happy on this one. I don't really care one way or another. It sounds nice, but in the end it doesn't really affect game play and I wonder if it will be worth it when someone comes along late at night when nobody is really playing and you have it taken away from you. Might just wind up being a big waste of outfit points.

I doubt it will affect gameplay much. However owning a specific base will become EVEN MORE IMPORTANT when the ancient modules come in core combat.. bases will mean even more than they do now with FLB's

Initially, I think OBO will just give outfits a reason to garrison their base and generally pay more attention to defense. In the future, however, I'm hoping they put in some really crazy outfit credit upgrades you can buy for your base.

Thats where ancient modules come in ;) Won't be easy to keep your base with all those fancy toys installed.

No, not just core modules. I mean benefits that you can spend outfit credits on that last forever unless you lose the base. Or, consider the idea of being able to customize turret types.

Guild owned Keeps in DAOC were great... didn't really change the way you played the game, but was a nice addition that really helped you feel more territoral about a base your guild claimed.
EDIT:
You really know an outfit is good if they claim a tough base like gunuku and are able to keep it.
I want the lodestar. now.
I still say that Outfit Bases will the TKathon death of this game yet.

http://bohica.planetside-universe.com/forums/html/emoticons/indeed.gif Thing was promised at release and it's still in the "planning" stages. Wonder what the holdup is?

:stupid: I agree hamma ;). With all that is coming out and the dev team caught up with getting cc out and they just pushed out such a large patch its hard to expect anthing new in the near futur. The loadstar would be nice but I'm severaly happy with how things are now. Outfit bases is just an add that will compliment CC is probably the only reason they are working on it.

I think it'd be cool for an outfit to have its own base to raise and nurture (rocks an invisible baby). Games like the old Heroes series would have been stupid if you just went out and killed people.

Actually when I fist heard about Planetside (and this was years ago) what I imagined was different outfits slugging it out to control territory. Then once said territory was aquired you could deploy base defenses and use outfit points to hire AI soldiers to guard said territory in the event that no one was online to protect it. Then again, at the time that really didn't sound too appealing since inevitably there would be a few very large outfits that completely dominated.

OBO's seem cool but it won't be much of anything unless you can accually affect that base somewhat.
Edit: IMO Only.

Hey, im new to the forums. Here's what I think about the Outfit Base idea:
The OB idea is great...for large outfits. It costs, what, 100,000 outfit points to grab a base? This leaves smaller (most likilly better) outfits out of the running. Also, from what I read, if an enemy captures the base, you lose ownership. But, when your Emp. gets the base back, you dont get back ownership, total waste of pts. This also envokes TK sprees to gain control on the bases between outfits. This also is an idea for the zerg outfits. Outfits that rely on pure power to get bases is what this idea really leans to. I know ive read that OBs are needed in CC, but there is a way around that... have it so you can install mods to Emp. Bases, not OBs. Well, thats what I think. Youre probably asleep now :p

I have heard rumors that the OBO is in Core Combat but I doubt that it will be. It does make sense for that to be next though with these modules that you can get for the bases will need to be installed in a base, If it is an oufit owned base then it would make an outfit more likely to want to get them installed in their base.
