View Full Version : Hypothetical friendly-fire worst-case scenario?

Getting in a hardcore tank, firing at something but missing entirely taking out a Galaxy full of 10+ troops and another vehicle.

How many grief-points would you get for THAT!?!? Eh?!?!?!

Hamma
2003-01-15, 06:55 PM
Probably alot.

I wonder if they give drug tests to drivers. I'm starting to hope so.

It's seems like it would be hard to kill a galaxy using a tank. You'd have to be an idiot to do it on accident.

Just hope you can see your side's Infiltrators. Would be hell if you couldn't, given how easy it'd be to give people "grief points" wearing one.

Actually I would be more concerned about running over your infantry squad while in a tank. Admins have any input on that be senario?

P.S. drugtest for drivers(Thank got the game is a few months away it will take that long to clean my system out.)(Unless its not a hair test)

I've got a better one: Smashing your fully loaded Galaxy into another friendly fully loaded galaxy at full speed, killing yourself and 25 of your teammates :D :D :D

Here is a real worst case scenario:

4 TR MAX AV with pounders anchor over a hill near an enemy base. Just as they begin to fire in rapid fire mode 3 galaxies of infantry drop their troops onto the base. Bye bye 30 or so troops.

Camping Carl
2003-01-15, 08:53 PM
They'd see them drop and stop firing, right?

Need to factor in brain lag. Sometimes it can take people 4 or 5 dead teammates to realize that they are killing their own team. :D

Genuk
2003-01-15, 09:20 PM
that would be bad...

Hamma
2003-01-15, 09:32 PM
I dont think running over your teammates will happen, its a pretty big world. If you get run over its your own fault :D

So here is human lameness factor at work: The grief players in this game will attempt to give people grief points by getting in front of their vehicle or walking into their fire. The good news is that you inherently get to kill them for it ;)

Hamma
2003-01-15, 09:39 PM
Yea, I wonder how they plan on adressing it

Airlift
2003-01-15, 09:43 PM
It becomes a problem if you get a pack of them together, but away from the spawn points it probably won't be a factor because they would only be able to give a few and then would have to go find the guy again. I guess we'll just have to be extra careful around the bases and report any organized grief outfits.

Hopefully it won't often be like BF1942 with the accidental TKs often devastating. Likt artillery taking out an APC full of troops and some nearby soldiers....That really pissed me off when I did that once.

Lol,

These situations are funny, I'd laugh my ass off if someone did it.

FraBaktos is currently in the lead with the highest accidental grief-point accumulation in one mistake.

Two fully loaded galaxies = more points than my suggested worstcase scenario.

Alright, formulate some more than please, its quite funny. Ways you could make just one mistake and end up with enough grief-points for at least weapon-disabling.

Maybe FraBaktos's scenario, but with the added un-luck of your own galaxy's corpse landing on another grounded fully loaded galaxy. It'd be quite unfortunate if that ever happened and it'd be FRIGGIN HILARIOUS from a spectator's point of view!

The worst case we could come up with (and the one that made us change our grief system to compensate) was:

A newbie with a Galaxy cert advertises that a Galaxy is available. He gets three gunners, two MAXs, six soldiers, and a Marauder with three people in it in the back hold.

Now...unknown to him, another newbie does the same thing nearby.

Upon launch, the two Galaxies somehow collide at nax speed and everyone on board dies.

With the old grief system, that would have resulted in a suspension of your account for about a month.

Lol. Obviously, we've changed the system...but it was pretty amusing when we realized it.

So how has the system changed? Some kind of logarithmic scale on a "per action" basis?

In other words, one particular even gives full grief for the most expensive kill/damange/whatever, 50% for the next, 25%, 12.5% and so on, for any given action. Messing with the ratio is expected.

Now defining an "action" in that situation could get a little tricky. One pull of the trigger? A single anti-infantry MAX "pull-of-the-trigger" could smear a lot of people.

I suppose it could just as easily be scaled back over time. For every N (100 for example) grief you get in a given period of time (1 second for example, the next 100 (or whatever) are halved (or whatever ratio you end up using).

I'd guess, not knowing ANYTHING about PS's internals, that the "over time" version would be easier to implement.

BTW: My worst-case grief scenario: Deploy a number of boomers... You could probably fit 50 or 60 people within the blast radius in the "standard" armor. Splat.

That would make one heck of a screen shot.

Lmao, there up to like "When Animals Attack: 57"

It's sad, I think I quit on the second one, where it was attacking, it was animals doing stupid shit from "You Gotta' See This: TV!" where that dumbass kid was jumped by his Cat, or the one where the guy with the camera walked over to his cat and it jolted into the wall.. Retarded I tell ya'..

I love how the camera guys never help or they'll attack a bear with a low power tazer and then say "Bears are horrible, unpredictable beasts."

I'll bet we could get to that number with 'when n00bs attack' in the first week. :)

Obviously we could. And all we need is a stupid guy with a camera to cover himself in male n00b urine. Seems like Rev would do that. He also has a camera.

actually thats not the worst case scenario. . .

A Platoon of your team is on the ground running and you are flying a masquito and you get hit by a rocket and are going down lose control and hit a galaxy make it go down and ram into the platoon of men and then your masquito runs into the tank on the ground. . .

Seems RARE but hey! it could happen if your unlucky!

Diego
2003-01-17, 05:55 PM
Thats just retarded though, that doesn't hold water. See, the Platoon on the ground, wouldn't be in a tight bunch, for the Galaxy to hit, and if you hit the Galaxy hard enough to bring IT down, you wouldn't hit that tank... Tisk tisk.. Didn't drink your Pedialyte before posting that, did you?
