Just to clarify, 23 is the maximum number of cert points, not certs. Each cert costs anywhere from 2-4 cert points to buy.

soooo, approx. 8 certs can be made, to a maximum, assumin' you get 7 three cert (most common), certifications, and one 2 cert certifiation. :p

Yeah, 23 certification points. you get 4 to start with, and from 19 levels you get another 19.

Combat Engineering isn't THAT great. It is helpful to slowdown zerga though.
I would get Engineering, Hack, Advanced Hacking, Medium Assault, Heavy Assault, and a vehicle of some type, and a MAX of some type.
Currently, at BR18, this is what I have....
Medium Assault
Reinforced Armor
Heavy Assault
Engineering
Hacking
Advanced Hacking
Thresher
I have one cert point left, and when I get BR 19, I'll get AMS, and when I get BR 20, I'll switch and get Magrider

What do you mean Combat Engineering isn't that great!
Man, that's my most favorite cert. :)
Combat Engineers are the most helpful/flexible grunt on the battlefield and they can make or break an assault or defense. A good combat engi. is worth 3-4 times his number on defense if not more. I got mine fields, motion sensors, spitefires and boomers. I keep your turrets running, your spawn tubes spawning, your generator spinning and your equipment/vehicle terminals working. I keep your MAX units fighting and your vehicles moving. When I'm not doing that I'm also killing the enemy. Combat Engineers do it all. Oh and we rock!

I'm an engineer. I keep the generators, tubes, turrets, vehicles, and MAX's running as well. I don't like CE, as I've not really got any good use out of it yet.

Doesnt engy without the upgrade only repair soldiers, maxes????

If you're dedicated, CE will take more downtime through the laying of deployables around bases and towers. ACEs also takes a little chunk of your inventory but it does give you some more flexibility like boomer traps and ambushes and spitfire turrets when you're stranded out in the open.
Engineering alone only repairs armor and structures. CE provides the mines and its deployables, etc.

A little more clarification for those who are wondering.
Regular engineering lets you repair anything in the game (with the exception obviously of peoples health, that's medic).
You have two guns, the small pistol sized gun repairs armor, the larger rifle sized version repairs deployables of all types, base turrents, generators terminals and vehicles of all types.
IMHO combat engineering is awesome. Minefields are still the best way for an infantryman to take out enemy vehicles. Spit fires while not great provide a decent detterant to fast moving troops as well as giving forwarning of incoming aircraft (they even fire at those pesky skeeters) Placing motion sensors smartly in key areas within the base can give you a serious home court advantage and help keep your gens up or your spawn tubes from getting camped.
Personaly I advise you to pick a cert plan, but definitly feel free to go as you feel. If you fancy being a reaver pilot I whould advise you to get reaver then engineering, these will be your staple certs untill you get up in BR. If you wish you could right at first take mosquito instead of reaver because yuou can get it and engineering right off the bat (4 cert points to start with plus two more for trying out all the terminals and vehicles and weapons in VR) this will let you learn the ropes of flying and strafing targets without having to worry about getting chewed up by automated base turrents, ultimately the call is up to you and any certs you take you cna later undo.

CE KCICK ALL THE MAJOR AZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
oh yeah, and SA. Those two certs are THE most potent combo, in the right hands, in this game.

just gettin my thread back on the main forum. And do all those 0-point certs count as certs? i mean like, the ANT cert.

Stuff like 0 Point certs dont really count perse, most of the stuff you get when you start the game, (agile, standard assault) Ant you snag when you get any vehicle cert, they dont count towards your point total or anything like that.

Standard Assault, Standard Armor, and Agile are all free. ANT is yours to keep with any other vehicle cert. So if you have core combat, you can get four vehicles (with ATV) for 2 cert points. That's a wicked deal.

They count as certs, you just get them automatically for free.
I suggest checking out my certification calculator at http://www.highcliffedrugstore.co.uk/chris/PSskillcalc/PSskillcalc.html to get an idea of how things work and to get some ideas of what certs you want.
Alternativly you can use the PSU cert calc seeing as you are already on their site :-) But I like to pimp mine off :-D

If your a grunt you definately want to have atleast Medic so you can heal yourself fast and easy. Also, if you are thinking about doing alot of tower taking get Combat Engineer cause you want to set a few turrets and such around the towers as you catch them.
I disagree with Arctik, that you need medic for the grunt. Use med kits. I usually carry 3 if not 4. Medkits are a fast 25 hp, whereas using the medical applicator takes time and who really has that in a gun fight? I use to have both engineering and medical as a grunt. I dropped medic for more med packs and I am now more effective in battle. As for the engy, you gotsa have at least basic engineering. You can repair all armor, including yourself, which comes in really helpful after a fight. But if your a sniper, i would definately get the Medic Cert, you can usually last until you run out of ammo when you have engineer and medic as a sniper.
If you are a grunt make sure to have medic, but also make sure to pack medkits. This is especially true for rexo loadouts. Before I switched back to infiltration, I carried the med gun (usually only one reload can) and at least 3 medkits. That way you have a fast 25 hp during a gun fight, but also a way to heal yourself after the engagement.

Medic is a great cert all around. You can find lots of small pockets to stop and heal yourself in an outdoor battle. Hideing behind trees, rocks, and walls works great unless your faceing massive use of thumpers and/or lashers.
However, in indoor fights, you'll need medkits, particularly if your in rexo. My grunt char doesnt have medical yet, but medkits are still extreamly useful, and can increast your lifespan for that extra few seconds needed to get the kill.
Personaly, I think they need to move the switchblade into the Light-tank cert because it realy seems to fit that role better than ATV.
