So there I am, driving my skyguard around when across the radio, "This is Bravo one we have 2 enemies atthe tower, one has missiles on me.". I respond, "Roger, Bravo 2 is on the way."
When I get there I have one enemy softy on foot, I park the skyguard at the tower, get out and pull out my trusty punisher. I immediately locate the guy, he's NC. I swicth to plasma and open up, the grenade goes off harmlessly, I switch back to machine gun and lay down a few rounds, turn and run for the gun turret, The NC is pumping rounds into me at range but getting closer. I jump into the turret and swing it around in machine gun mode and open up. The NC is to close, right against my 'guard. His jackhammer is pounding at my hull, I switch to flak mode and unload. The flak explodes behind him, eventually the collateral damage kills him just before the 'guard explodes.
I get a tell from him a few moments later. "Nice bug, good use of the exploit though."
I respond, "what is he talking about? flak explodes and causes splash damage" He goes on to say nope and the TR Burster Max uses the same ammo no vehicle can damage soldiers right against them.
So my question to you people is, should the flak from my skyguard have been able to have killed him?

Yes. It just takes awhile.
Every weapon in planetside will kill anything, given enough time that is.

I think his problem was that he was right againt my vehicle and I shouldn't have even been able to hit him with the splash damage.

What an idiot. Tell him to say that no vehicle can kill a soldier who is right next to it after I maul him in my lightning.

I think the flak cannon is supposed to have to be at least 10 meters away from the target or the rounds shouldnt explode, thats how it is with the burster anyway and i think it uses the flak rounds also. If he was close enuff to the splash damage it would have killed him though, but it woulda had to be at least 10 m away.

 I agree....we checked out the new prowler as well. I was able to hit my driver hugged up against the front repairing with the machine gun and the main gun(splash damage). So that guys a moron.
The problem is that a lot of people think they "know" everything about this game and can only be pwned one on one by an exploit or an overpowered weapon. I have had countless infultrators telling my I was cheating or "eploiting a bug" when I merely have audio on and could see them moving one room over.

Yeah the target was the ground. so it hit the ground and went BOOM BOOM BOOM! I suspect I took damage as well, but couldn't say for sure, I will try tonight and check.

See he wrongly assumes that just because they fire a similar projectile that they are the same, this is not even close to the case, the skyguard is meant to be more versatile then the burster, secondly sore loosers are always the ones that got picked last for dodge ball.

Flak is not like a regular bullet. its supposed to do area of effect damage. when you watch war movies, how many times does the flak actually hit the plane directly. not that much because its like a grenade, it spreads shrapnel which hits the plane. that guy is a dumbass, never listen to him again.

Yeah that was my assesment as well, just wanted to see if people had the same one as me or if I was on crack which I can be on rare occasions.

Yes i know that but if u shoot someone directly with a flak cannon it will do NO damage if they are within 10m, EVEN IN THE SKYGAURD. What i said was if u werent directly hitting him, hitting the ground and the splash damage was hitting him, then it would have probably killed him. A flak round will not explode when it touches anything closer than 10 m, but the splash damage can easily take someone out as long as the round explodes, christ ive even damaged myself in a burster with splash damage.
