I am no RAM expert but it would really help to know what your motherboard, processor, and type of RAM.
Most likely the RAM you got isnt compatible with your MB.
Or you just don't have it pushed all the way into the slot.

Here's what I'd try next.
Remove the new ram - start machine - if all is well....
then remove existing ram and replace with new ram - start machine...
if all is well, the stick is ok, compatable, etc..
if not - that ram is having problems with your machine or is bad.
if it worked, then add your second stick and start machine.
Be sure to check your manual for placement - try different slots in different orders. Be very careful to insure you RAM is completly in the socket, and not crooked. Take care when adding and removing ram - alway disconnect the power cord, or flip the on/off switch on the Power Supply - not just having the machine 'off' is enough on newer machines.
Hope that helps

crapcrap that didint work...hey can it be xuz the new memory i have is sdr dimm ? and the one i have on my computer is sd ram , it doesint have that "r" does that mean anything?, is that mayb why it doesint work?
And remember to make sure it's in there nice and tight. The first time I installed a RAM upgrade I didn't push it in far enough, even though it seemed like I had. Generally, make you push it in until you can see none of the gold connectors at the bottom of the RAM chip. The connectors on the motherboard should also "click" into place. Don't push too hard and break the board, but make sure it is in there securely.
WHOA WHOA WHOA, what now? "SDR?" What does it say on the packaging of the RAM chip EXACTLY?

umm on the ram package it says 256mb SDRAM PC133(133MHz) 32x64 168-pin DIMM its just what my motherboard manul says it can hold
**oh but on the ram it says U10-1519 256mb 133mhz sdr dimm
PC133 SDRAM... Damn thing should work if it's inserted correctly.
What model of computer do you have?

hey should i restore my windows with the new memory in there 2 ..it doesint really matter, i have another hd so i can put anything important in there, should i?. cuz mayb i'll pick it up...after i restore my computer
Well, here's the thing. PS will run with 256 MB of RAM. You'll have to turn down all the graphical settings but it will work, at least until you can get this figured out.
If all else fails take the machine down to a local computer store and see if they can figure out what's wrong with it. By all rights the new RAM stick should work fine.
