View Full Version : Gun Turrets woohoo!

I was defending a base last night in which the VS had taken both towers within our SOI. I usually snipe in this situation to let our maxes get close enough to do some damage. But I decided to hop in the gun turret. Wow, if you haven't been in one since the balance patch you have to try it.
You now get a 4X zoom, the armor is beefed up, and the gun rips Maxes and vehicles to shreds.

Yeah they rock, but I've always liked them even before the balance patch.
They may be strong and all, but they look like crap. A small gun connected to a big square the gunner goes in. I think they should make the turret gun bigger (but not stronger), and it would be awsome if theycould be controlled remotley from the heart of the base
It doesn't look bad. I don't even look at the turrets to see how cool they look.

A central control room would be interesting. Then to stop the turrets you would have to destroy them, OR, infiltrate the base and blow away all the preoccupied turret operators. Could bring a whole new dynamic, making bse defense even better, becuase you could gun from inside and if there was a breach, put the turrets on auto-pilot and go defend the CC.

Yeah, thats a cool idea. But it would probably result in problems, there'll be a guy who wants a turret, but all of them are taken, so he just blows one of the other guys away, then the guy comes back and kills him, and so on.

Neither have I...But I'm saying theres already enough TKing as it is, we don't really need any more, even though a turret control room would be cool

In tribes u can control things such as turrets through a command circuit, u dont even need to be in a special room or anything. I dont really like that idea though, fire the turret at 3x's its normal speed, and not be able to be harmed unless the enemy was in the base? I dunno, maybe it would work, i just think if u wanna use a super weapon, u should have to take SOME kind of risk.

Maybe they will have something cool for CC with turrets. I heard someone say on this board that there is the switchblade wich turns into an energy turret, maybe those will be in CC?

Remotely operated wall turrets hmm. Sounds interesting, but half the fun is getting in one when theres a skeeter chasing you across a catwalk. Not to mention getting kill when you blow one off the wall.
As far as TK's for jealous would-be remote controllers, just make the remote term similar to an Implant Terminal. It would encapsulate you, but only enough to protect you from a stray bullet or two.
I think remote control spitfires would be much more fun personally. :)

Im hearing from outfit members that NDA = gone, but i cant determine the validity of this statement.

Hmm, maybe if there are new turrets they might have an ammo source. And keeping with theCC theme of vanu weapons, they will prob be energy based. simple deductions, no?

And this is a problem because? :) Tribes 1 renegades mod was da shiznit. Besides why not give defenders and advantage that doesnt cause them to be spread all over hell and breakfast.

Heh, that Turrent mispelling has been around for months and months. It's somehow become a recognised spelling of the damned things.
