This upgrade was for my moms house, im there 5/7 days. The one at my dads is ok, but this one TOTALLY SUX. I had to get rid of it...I can finally play games here now.

The one i had was: (dont read ahead if u dont like laughing ur ass off at poor ppl)

6 gb harddrive
had 32 mb sdram (LOL), but i stole some more from a couple of ppl and upped it to 128mb
With a voodoo 3 accelerator card

I wanted a 64FX SOOOOO BADDD!!! Us poor people, we know howda want in style! Always craving something even semi wealthy ppl cant have! Lol. Lets just put it this way, the shit system without a monitor, and only a geforce3 was over 2k. Damn u AMD!!!

Edit: Ill probably switch out the mobo and the processor somewhere in 2005, im fairly sure this comp will still be bearable then @_@. But thats when the 64 bit windows OS is coming out, and as Lise says, it will run like molten sex :) (sorry for stealing TEH uberness lol) Plus 64 bit processors will be a bit more common...

As of now there is no point in having a 64-bit processor except for bragging rights. In march 2004 I believe there will be a 64 bit version of windows xp coming out, but there will still be very few applications that use 64 bit processing. Once longhorn comes out it will be pretty common.

Actually the benchmarks for the 64-bit were INSANELY better than a reg 32. But bragging rights are fun too...lol

What is XMS memory?

How does it differ from double data rate?

XMS is just Corsair high end DDR ram. All my systems use XMS PC3500 currently. Never had a problem with it and clocks up nicely.

Yea, "Extreme Memory Series" its just high performance, has heat sinks on it and stuff. I've got 2gb of it

the probelm with the Alth. 64 is that the 939 (i think) isnt out yet. The Performance version the FX-51 is basically just a opteron with a higher clock and different box. The second thing that jacks up the price on those is the need for DDR 400 registered memory. If you think DDr400 is expensive wait til u see registered (its for servers) its atleast $150 more than the non registered version.
