I've been trying to clean up my computer recently, get a good pop up blocker, and norton system works, and delete old programs but I really don't know how to start, can somone help me with this?

oh yea and where can I find a cool background that is just some crazy graphics that confuse you after you look for too long.

what do you mean by reformat? I know I'm a computer N00b :(
Everyone, please try not to laugh too hard.

Reformat: Wipes EVERYTHING off of your hard drive.

I figured it meant something along those lines but it seems so extreme I was doubtful! does this involve reinstalling window XP though because my brother stole my copy and took it to college with him and he lost it.

Actually I wasn't kidding, if you want to completely clean your HD, just wipe all the data and get a fresh start.

Search google for mike lin's startup editor and go to www.blkviper.com and find out which services you can turn off. Uninstall any programs you dont need. Defrag your hard drive do norton disk utilities. Do alot to clear out your start up , Taskpower is freeware but im not shure if its on the net i got it in some PC mag. Anyway if you can find it Taskpower can turn off services and processes at startup. I get a 30 Second start up, power button to desktop

lol

That's always the first answer.

Burn everything you care about and reformat. :D

DOS Format. Then re-Install WinXP

XP format = Creates a new OS on top of the old one = HDD pwnage.

Meh. Just boot from CD's delete partition, recreate and install.

Yeah, DOS format and reinstall.

Always a good feeling after that.

Keep a ghost image from Norton and then bust it out hump style onto 21 computers in under 2 hours. Just lay the comps next to each other and plug the hard drive of the Humpee into the Humper, turn both on and Norton will do it. Oh yeh, thats what we just did at work!!! It was awesome, yet scarey, made me think of the Matrix and exactly how the computers took over the world, damn now they are breeding.
