One hit completely destroyed my undamaged lightning. Don't know if it would have taken me out if I was shielded, but that really surprised me. I thought it would hurt, but I didn't realize there was no way to actually engage one and survive unless you manage to not get hit. Looks like aircraft are really the only things useful for countering the flail.
Anyone know how much damage they do against the medium tanks in the game or the Sunderer?

Meh. Lets put it this way. In beta. Im damaged, come around a corner, and there is a van there.
I get it 3-4 times while deploying.
I kill the vanguard, with life to spare.
i tryed to put boomer under it but it would not let me ???
it said i was too close to an othe Deployable
WTF is this a bug?

Probly a bug with the boomers and yeah Air craft rock against the flail, if they don't get close. I have dropped them from approx 100 m away.
I do believe that the flail is just like it should be. If you are bombarding a base from a ridgeline then it should one shot kill things. I lobbed 40 rounds into a base and only killed a few people cause they kept moving the rounds are slow and if you get caught by one then so be it you weren't paying attention which happens. I mean come on it's equivilant to a 200mm howletzer. They drop a lot of damage on an area. The flail if used as it is suppose to be is not that accurate. You can bombard an area and keep the enm pinned down, which is what artilary is used for most of the time. Arty is also used for the total destruction and anualation of an area of combat, when ground troops mark an area. It's doing it's job.

NNY that is indeed a bug. I got that message many, many times last night when I tried to use deployables. It would say I was too close to a deployable and I'd check my map and there wouldn't be a deployable within 50yards of me. Made setting up defenses a real chore.

I did notice that last night now that I think about it. The Deployable ring or coverage area on the proxy map has changed. I also noticed there where hardly no defences out. I did see that the boomers were being placed in the doors on tower. I don't mean infront of them I mean in the frames. Also they don't cloak when they are there. They are hard to see when there, they blend in really well with the non-scid at the bottom of the door frame.

It's quite a beast, however i think that it should not be able to aim so low. It should not be able to defend itself if the enemy is close.

No. I don't. Becasue despite my long long years of FPS ass kicking, SOE don't want my money.

the sunderer takes atleast 3 shots. and oh if you had a full shield on a lightning it probly whouldent kill you. 2 splash hits kills a lightning with no shield so there a good chance that it whouldent kill a shielded one with a direct hit. but youd be mighty F**ked up

3 hits to take out Main battele tank, 3 for sunderer, 2 for deliverer, 1 for lightning,reaver, and mosquito, 1 and a splash for liberator, 4 or 5 for galaxy, 4 for another flail, less then half a shot for All ATVs except switchblades take about 3/4 of a shot, all empire buggies about 1 or 2,harraser takes 1....... Am i leavin anything out? It is very easy to kill Air targets with Flail u just have to be patient with shot and wait for the right moment. Last night i got 10 air kills with my beloved flail.

(sorry but the more I moan the more likley they are to pick up on it, and they don't allow now subscribers to post on the official forums)Actually since the Devs don't handle anything to do with finances/billing and the people who do manage those aspects at SOE don't frequent these forums you moaning (his words, not mine) about it here will most likely have absolutely no effect. Try e-mailing customer service repeatedly. That's probably the best advice I can offer.

The Flail has an increadible ammount of armor, as much as a prowler from what I heard, and it takes the full ammo capacity of a mosquitoe or harrasser to destroy one.
The thing about (real) artilery is that while it is able to create massive damage against targets at range, it useualy has little to no armor, and is more useful as something to hide behind than a weapon at close range.
I think that the Flail's offencive power is just fine, but its armor is realy at an obscene level. They should not be able to effectively take on tanks unless they're sitting in a courtyard.
This game is realy geting to the point where it's not any more fun. Either you cant have fun because the devs nerfed your favorate weapon, or there's noone left to fight. NC captured nearly every base on oshur before the vanu finaly started to fight back.

Fine let em take the armor of the flail down and then comes a couple reavers BOOOM byby flail and the flail cant do anything what soever!

The Flail is nice as it is. BUT it has TWO major weaknesses. NOT flaws in design, just weaknesses. One, it can NOT hit anything that comes without I think it's 15 feet, but it might be ten feet. It can't shot below a line of perpendicular to flat ground, which is why it can't hit anything within a certain distance, which I said, I think is 15 feet. It seems that way after having used it for a day. THE SECOND weakness is against air, it can't aim higher then I believe a 50 degree angle. So a reaver or a Mosquito can stay higher and kill it. TO COUNTER THESE WEAKNESSES, you must team up with another vehicle. A magrider, Prowler. Reaver. Something, anything. Even the new ATV (Can't remember it's name off hand) would be better than nothing. Two of those ATV's, ten feet away from the Flail, and at opposite side of the flail, and deployed would make a VERY nice Artillery comapny. Especially if you have two flails near each other. Set it up like a plus sign. Two flails on the horizontal, and two of those deployed ATV's on the vertical. I wouldn't call it unstopable, but it would be a major fighting team.
