Yeah, that has been all over the local news and radio here in Detroit... They are making a much bigger deal out of it then what it actually is. Only one city is using the untracked ones widely. The rest are using encrypted and tracked ones... So if they see a code is being used a lot they will change the unit's code.
Also $300 is a bit much to pay for one of those anyways.. Maybe $20.

Its not like that Zions... It activates the yellow light for all other three directions... So that is why it needs the 1,000 foot range, so the EMS driver hits the intersection way up ahead, and ten seconds later all other three directions become red.

Never should have been invented in the first place. Going through intersections is why police and fire trucks have lights and sirens. I have NEVER seen a cop use it for a legitimate reason but I see them using it because they don't want to wait all the time. My roomie is in the police reserves and he says that when he rides along, they do it all the time.
