i am in desperate need of a new video card, right now i have an intel 64mb extreme graphics card which is integrated, in CC beta i would get owned right away because my framerate went to 3 fps. There is also a computer show coming up, should i wait and see prices then. Tell me if this card is a good buy and if you have something else that is good for me tell me, i am willing to spend up to $200

You live in toronto right? I think thats the one i might go to. and for 200$ for a vid card aint that good get at least a geforce 4 or Radeon (one of the best thats out now of course).

If your going to spend $200 get a Radeon 9600 Pro or XT, do not get an SE because it sucks, the 8500 is an old card and the 9600 will easily outpreform it

actually i live very close to hamma, VERY close, but i dont want a card thats the best out there, because i dont have enough money, do you know when radeon 9600 xt will be out because i saw the benchmarks and it said that it outperformed the 5900 ultra, which is very good, so i want that card, plus it comes with hl2

umm get the Pro version because the non pros are crap and XT isnt out yet and almost everything out preformed a 5900ultra in HL2 but thats a different story...

the XT will be out very soon, and the only reason i would get the XT is becuase it has a built in temp sensor (lless risk of burning it out do to OCing) and the next catalyst drivers will suport the Overdrive function witch can OC on the fly depending on the load (and it doesn't void the waranty)
EDIT; its suposed to cost $200
