We'd like to compile as much data as we possibly can on the current framerate issues that some players have been experiencing since the launch of Core Combat. We are requesting that players who are having these difficulties post their DXDiag files in this thread for us to review.
To create your DirectX Diagnostic information:
1) Click on the START menu, select RUN and type in DXDIAG and select OK.
2) When the DirectX Diagnostic tool opens, click on the SAVE ALL INFORMATION button on the lower right, next to the EXIT button.
3) Save the DxDiag.txt to your desktop or other easily found location.
4) Copy and paste the contents to this thread.

I know alot of people with better comps get the low FPS now but i dont. HAHAHA YOUR TURN SUCKAS!! :p

I have a pretty good computer and I run at near lowest settings.
With client side hit detection FPS means more than graphics...well ok if you want kills, anyway.
EDIT: That thread reminds me of Jurassic Park, when Jeff Goldblum was looking at the dinosaur crap and said, "That is one big pile of shit."
I dunno why that makes me chuckle inside...sigh.

Dude..I cant even run high settings with 1024 MB of ram P4 2800 ghz DSL and a geforce 4 TI 4800
How the hell...
Uhh yeah it's just that there is no way in hell a 500mHz processor can run Planetside. My old system was 500 and it could barely run BF1942. Are you sure it's not 1.5GHz?
And frankly I think it's a little insulting that they're now needing all these "diagnostics" as if it's our computers' fault that their crappy patch screwed up their own software. Give me a break, it wasn't a problem before so maybe they should look at the code they added first before passing the buck and pretending it's somehow our system configurations. Smells like microsoft.

Yeah I posted about some video crashes I've been having since CC came out and they said it is probably a heat issue... even though it only happens when playing PS and only since CC was out..

I'm currently running a P4 2.5 w/ 512 of the 133 ram..128 meg radeon..and a 2 mbps cable connection.. I got just about everything turned down or off.
But the lag as of late has gotten me killed/mowed several times. But if I reboot and come back it slacks off for a short time.
Which isnt bad, no bushes and weeds for the badguys to hide in. ;)

Well if you change 3 options that dont affect gameplay whatsoever, you can change it and get awsome FPS :)
If you want i can tell you:
go into planetside game folder:
find engine3d_perf and open it
change New_Prefetch
New_texture
prime_geometry from true to false
Heres the catch tho, first you have to run planetside and wait until its at the "play" button..so it gets annoying
Its fixed ALL my suttering issues AND boosted my fps by 30...
It doesnt affect graphics either, so i dunno why sony just doesnt change that
Good luck ;)

It's a glitch in the optimisation system that they tried to bring in before, but they later removed due to a big glitch with it. The re-intorduction of the system caused the stuttering (Everyone wants to call it a framerate issue). Basically it tried to reduce the amount of stuff rendered at once, you can see this in action by warping around the sanctuary and watching it have to load before you arrive in the next place. Before the re-introduction of the system it didn't have to do the level load.
Although I do not recommend changing the file, I have to say it did work for me and I will not be changing it back until SOE relise that this system is causing it and do something to resolve it.

One of the problems that I have seen and posted about on the OF(but never got a response) is the Machine.ini and engine3d_perf.ini. There are a few settings in there that if I change stops the problems I am having.
The problems with this is the Machine.ini randomly changes back all my settings and I have to start the patcher before I change the engine3d_perf.ini otherwise it "patches" it back. I realize they change/add settings in these at patches and I can handle looking into these at those times but I have to check these EVERY time I log on. Otherwise, I have sever issues.
In the machine.ini: the use_background_thread which utilizes hyperthreading on my P4 randomly turns off and there is a max textures setting also that keeps change from 128 to 32 which, with all the textures in PS when you turn of high res and everything on, causes sever frame rate issues on the best cards.
In the engine3d_perf.ini there is a few settings that I change but the 1st on in there is the most important. This setting causes your pc to render things you don't see for "better performace". Nvidia cards work so well because they DO NOT render what you don't see. So, when you force a card that is designed to render ony what you see, to render everything around (including the zerg in the base) it tends to tank.
So bottom line is I have no problem changes these things after a patch because I know they have to change. Please tell me why I change my INI files and they randomly change back. My request to fix my frame rate: QUIT TOUCHING MY INI FILES!!!!!

I can't post my dxdiag anymore on the OF. They closed the thread.
