By far the best shooter of this year as a WW2 history buff it is historically accurate to the every detail. Great gameplay and level design with the car chase. Great Graphics for the ageing Quake 3 engine. All of this makes Cod my reccomendation for Goty. PS comes in for best MMOG, If you havent played call of duty get the demo. Its 20x times better than MOH:AA. The game feels like more than just a game (probaby cause sound is 75% of the gaming experience) Its like band of brothers except your in it.

The AI is so much better. And it's different than MOHAA in many aspects. I am just too lazy to list right now....

I'm buying it, pure tactical infantry combat is hard to find these days, everyone wants to water the game down with unbalanced vehicles (im looking at you bf) instead of focusing on whats more important and more fun, being able to crack someones skull open with the butt of a K98.

hehe, im buying it on the morrow, i cant wait, and there may be too many WW2 games, but this one stands out above the rest.
and you know, they really need to make a WW1 game, and make it realistic, imagine, your in a trench that goes for miles, and beside you there are hundreds of men, lineing the trench, and then, you hear a whistle, and they all start climbing up the ladder to charge at the enemy, and then, at the enemys trench, they open fire, with the machine guns and artilery, and many people around you dont even make it out of the trench, that game would be about surviving, not about winning

Sounds like omaha beach on MOHAA. I hate MG42s.

hmmm, close, but not really, they never used Gas on the soldiers on Dday, and about 2.5 thousand Allies died on Dday, but in one day, of the most intense battle in WW1, 50 thousand people died.

Oh man I totally forgot about that
/me adds bestbuy visit to his list of to-do-after-school stuff.
The demos own, and though I agree there are too many WWII sims out there, this one tops them all by a very large amount. People would probably think this is MOHAA with some graphical tweaks and such but it is soooo much better than MOHAA. Thanks for reminding me about that game...would have sucked to go the weekend without remembering I need to get it o_o

agein q3 engine? pffff...
ye CoD pwns, comes out 7:th november here in sweden, its gonna b so awesome 2 finally play it :D
mohaa I dont even know wots good about that game, so overrated its sick, just becouse there wasnt any other good ww2 SINGLE PLAYER games out on that exact moment mohaa got far too much props. RtCW owns mohaa in multiplayer and its amazing how mohaa can have more mp players than RtCW.

i don't think there's such a thing as "too many" WWII games.
each one represents a different viewpoint and a different style of what the authors thought the war would've been like. it's like saying "there's too many wwii books/movies!" each one improves vastly on the last one.

I agree with Hamma. They're being used too much. BF1942 is the last WWII game I'll play for a while

well, take out the third person veiw and it is, to a degree, i mean online really, like 1 shot your dead, and when i say online, i mean if you also forget the fact that noone stays together and use tactics, and all the cheaters. okay, you win, its not realistic at all
but you know, one thing i like about call of duty, is that it feels very cenimatic

One nice touch of CoD is that you won't be playing an american GI all the time. Getting to play a ww2 game that has other sides is going to be fun. Refreshing

On another note, there are far too many WWII games. Correction, there are far too many games that use WWII skins, there are very few actual WWII games.
Example: BF is not a WWII game, guess how many StG44s used in north africa, exactly NONE, believe it or not almost every german soldier wielded a Kar 98k. But somehow reality offended these people, so they had to give maybe half of the German pop (and by half i mean of people that make a difference, i.e. not idiot snipers) StGs, because a Bolt Action weapon couldn't possibly be fun. There method of balancing the game is as shallow as it gets as well, make the weapons nearly identical. (axis/allied engy rifles is the best example.)
BF is just one of the many examples of games that simply pillage the time period because they are to stupid or lazy to come up with there own setting, with the end product having almost no resemblence to it's place of theft.

Can you reload the M1 Garand in "Call of Duty" without firing off all of the 8 rounds in the rifle? This was possible to do in real life yet every so-called "realistic" WW2 game has said it is was not.
Proof: http://sgthammer.50megs.com/garandeject.jpg
That's my M1, and the way you reload the eject the enbloc clip from the receiver is to pull back the charging handle and press that button in, once doing that the enbloc clip and whatever rounds were in it are ejected from the top of the rifle. Just curious is this game has this feature or not, if it does it gets an extra star to the 5 I've already given it in my mental judging.
Oh yeah and uh go Planetside!

You don't have to fire off all of the rounds to reload the weapon, lets say there are 3 ****** behind a hedgerow and you have 2 bullets left in the weapon. You can simply pull back the charging handle, press the clip release and insert a fresh enbloc clip in to the weapon's magazine.
If you don't believe me, let me give you a common sense question anybody can understand. If you can't reload the weapon or clear it WITHOUT firing all of the 8rnds, how is a soldier expected to clear a jam or remove faulty ammunition?

I was talking about in Call of Duty. You asked if you had to shoot off all rounds in the game to reload, I answered yes which is true.
