One of my outfit members mentioned this idea, so i thought i'd make a thread and see what u think.
Wouldn't it be cool if there was a "Duplication Module" that alowed you to purchase weapons or vehicles from other empires!?

It should be as easy as possible to get other empires' assets. People are actually leaving the game because of the balance pass. People are sick of getting killed by things they can't use, and looting is lame an dangerous.
From MAX suits to Heavy Assault weapons to vehicles, everything should be available to a determined squad.

play tribes2 if you want that. i for one would never pay $13 a month for that crap, and i am finding fewer and fewer reasons everyday to continue paying $13 a month as it is.

The devs failed to balance the Pounder, which makes TR the only empire with a broken AI MAX. If TR could get ScatterMAX or Quasar, it would at least put a band-aid on the problem.
As it is now, NC and VS Decimators will go uneaten by the marked shortage of TR MAXs on the field. So it goes.
Things are still semi-balanced out by the fact that even post-nerf the Striker is still the best ranged anti-MAX weapon in the game by a mile.
But yeh, the Pounder needs love badly.

Please Stay On Subject!
There should be "enemy Vehicle module", "enemy weapon module", and "Enemy MAX module". I know u might say wy just put em all together i think that would be an INSANE amount of power and they should be split into 3 seperate ones.
PS: PLZ STAY ON SUBJECT :)

It would merely need to be an extended ability of the Equipment and Vehicle modules. A new module type wouldn't even be necessary.
My honest opinion, however, is that anyone with Hacking should be able to hack equipment and vehicle terminals, and anyone with Advanced Hacking should be able to make them provide enemy assets. It's so simple and elegant, would please so many customers (a hundred for every disgruntled player who resents a well-prepared opponent) and would take the edge off of the inevitable imbalances that arise.
Fortunately for the Republic, we have loyalists in the NC and VS who provide us with the weapons and information we need to stay competitive, but as for MAXs, we're S.O.L.
Lise: the Lancer is an anti-MAX sniper rifle. Sniper rifles always own rocket launchers in every game and PS is no exception. The Phoenix is a long-range guided missile that the NC put to lethal tactical use every day. With the change in the Lancer's AI damage, I think the AV weapons are closer to balance now than ever, but all of them are owned instantly and brutally by the Decimator, so I suppose the argument is moot.

Why would you want a duplication module? Alkl you gotta do is kill someone and loot their stuff, quite easy i might add. The point to having empire specific weapons is to make the empires different.

Looting is very easy if you know what you are doing.. but if you are too unskilled try to get a weapons trader.. :D

I whould make the argument that the pounder is still far more effective as a killing machine then it's competitors, but cry a little more maybe they will take away the nerf that brought it down within killable range.

Ugh...the Pounder issue. I haven't used one since the balance pass but myabe I should try it out and then I can rant about whether or not it needs a buff/nerf.

not often do i agree with veteran, but here i do. that would be a perfect buff to avd hacking, though i feel they might need to shorten the timer on how long it stays hacked (so the "hacker" has to stay if his intention is to helpp ALL bust out the JH love ;) )
Though i still disagree with the pounder. Nothing I fear more than a pounder, espically when its deployed at the top of stairs in a tower. :scared:
Nah that takes all the fun out of looting or trading for enemy weapons. People seem to forget that SKILL is the great equalizer in this game, and if you really believe the slight differences between jackhammer/mcg/lasher or any other empire-specific weapons can't be overcome with a little adrenaline and tactics then you should go play RPGs where you can point and click your way through tedious "fair" combat.

That would be cool yes, but it kind of ruins the uniqueness (if thats a word) of the empires.

yeah it does. I thought it'd be cool at first but now that i think about it, it makes using an nme weapon more fun becuz u cant use it all the time. You value the weapon more and perhaps work harder to stay alive or escape so u can save ur weapon. I know i was on solsar yesterday and i was all usin maelstroms (not empire weapons but i could not access any at the moment cept in my locker) and i was careful where i went and tried to escape when i was near death.

Well what about just MAX modules?
The module could even out the whole empires balance thing with a really low module timer or a limited use.

Nah. Doesn't sound that promising. We would be making every weapon common pool in the game pretty much. One thing for sure is that every empire would be using enemy weapons. So whats the point of making empire related weapons in the first place? If its one thing that bugs me about PS its the LACK of uniqueness in all 3 empires. We need more weapons and vehicels for each empire.
I agree. I hope for future expansions they are brave enough to go for more empire-specific weapons instead of caving to forum whiners who refuse to believe anything is balanced. I'm pretty sure that's why they went the way they did with CC, cause it would have meant endless headaches while they sifted through flames and server stats about kills and whatnot trying to make sense of it all.

The only problem is that all of the modules were made by the ancient vanu not the "empires" but its a good idea in all

As Hamma says, it would ruin the uniqueness. And yes, that's a word. It's a rarity to get a hacked Vanguard, and even rarer to find a hacked or hackable Enforcer. You have one of those, and say I need a gunner, and people FLOCK to you. It's a privilage to be able to have enemy equipment. If you have it so that you can buy it when ever you want, then people will get bored. People already bitch about their own shit, they bitch about other empires shit. What the fuck don't people bitch about in this game? That's a poll I'd like to see.
What is the one things in this game that absolutely no one bitches about?

People bitching about bitching and whining about whining?
I'd say you're the last one who should speak on the issue.

Or just make it to where you can still get all of your empires equipment but choose to get enemies equipment at the same time. Anyone notice during CC beta the Bolt Driver was in Heavy Assault :D
