Ok a while back I posted a couple threads with ideas for new Planetside expansions, Air Superiority (http://www.planetside-universe.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14316) and Mad Skills (http://www.planetside-universe.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14386). This is the third installment in the series, set on the twin moons of Auraxis.
The moons feature low gravity allowing players and vehicles to get major air time as they rip across the pock-marked surface. No advanced ground vehicles are available on the moon, except the empire specific heavy buggies. There would be all-new base designs and layouts, most of them being fairly stripped down a-la Core Combat, with 3 bases per moon featuring ground vehicle terminals (light vehicles+heavy buggies only), and 3 bases featuring air vehicle pads (all air vehicles are available). The bases/towers also have air-locks that need to be hacked on the outside, then another hack from inside the airlock to breech. In the middle of each moon is the sprawling Crythalis Mine complex which acts like a dropship centre (repair pads activated, can buy Galaxies and other allowed vehicles) and also provides free life support to friendly soldiers as long as they are in a friendly SOI on that moon. All bases except the Crythalis Mine have LLU-style capture mode, promoting wild low-gravity races in harassers etc to capture the latice links towards the center.
Life Support Armor :: No cert cost :: 100 armor
This lightweight armor is seriously limited in terms of equipment loadout, and comes with one pistol slot, one rifle slot, and an 8x9 inventory grid. To be used in the vacuum it must be powered by life support batteries. These units are the same size as engineer/medic ammo (2x3) and contain 100 life support units. Each unit provides 6 seconds of air if the player is running, 12 if he is walking, and every jump drains an entire unit immediately. The suit automatically switches life support off and on when the user goes in or outside, respectively. This is the equivalent of agile armor in terms of vehicle piloting.
Reinforced Space Suit :: Requires Reinforced Exo :: 150 armor
Similar to the Life Support Armor, this suit requires life support batteries to operate in the vacuum. It features an 11x9 inventory grid, two pistol slots and one rifle slot. You may be wondering why both suits have such an odd width, it's so that they can hold 3 life support batteries (up to an hour of oxygen) while still leaving room for standard 3x3 ammo boxes.
MAX (Crythalis Miner Config) :: 3 certs :: Common Pool Anti-Infantry MAX
This MAX suit has a healthy 650 armor rating and a large storage capacity of 16x16. It requires life support batteries to operate on the moons' surface. Its primary mode of attack is a long range semi-automatic sniper rifle built into the right arm that can eliminate Reinforced soldiers in 6 shots (the size of its clip) but the CoF bloom ensures only extremely skilled players will be able to finish off their opponents without a reload. For secondary fire, the 'Miner has a large drill bit installed on its left arm, which it uses as a close-range melee weapon. Soldiers who have been gored by this weapon seldom allow a 'Miner close enough to try it again. Common pool MAXes have no special abilities, but the standard MAXes can be used on the moons as long as they are supplied with Life Support Batteries.
MAX (Goaltender Config) :: 3 certs :: Common Pool Anti-Vehicle MAX
Again, 650 armor, 16x16 inventory. Primary fire is a rotary rocket launcher mounted on the right arm similar to the rocklet rifle, except that it holds 12 shots in a clip and it cannot fire them all at once. Secondary fire is a tractor beam weapon that can be used to slow enemy vehicles or soldiers to a halt for teammates to finish off. It takes several seconds to bring vehicles to a dead stop and has a limited range, the idea is that if the vehicle has already zoomed past before the beam is engaged, it will slow down but will likely pull away before being completely immobilized. This would be based on the speed the vehicle is travelling, so faster moving vehicles take longer to stop and therefore have improved chances of getting by.
Orbital Shuttle :: 3 certs :: Common Pool Air Transport
This aircraft houses a driver with a forward-firing 12mm cannon, a 12mm tailgunner and 4 passengers. Not noted for agility, nor designed for combat, the Orbital Shuttle specializes in the rapid insertion of infantry into battle.
