Recent changes in PlanetSide have really changed the feel of the game, especially when it comes to BEP awards and the usefulness of vehicles. Time to find out how strongly people feel about it.

Squad. If I want to just kill people I have countless games I can play. I play Planetside because it allows me to work with a group of guys that are fucking awesome to work with.

I was going to post a poll but it didn't work out.
Basically, with the HART the way it is, nobody needs vehicle drivers, and with Heavy Assault, people are one-man-armies (Flail drivers fit this bill also).
Is PlanetSide a squad-based game? I'm not so sure any more. Some of the server populations are so low that it's basically a bunch of solos in a six or seven man platoon so they can chat while they do their own thing.
Hopefully they'll roll back the HART change. The only voices that support it, I think, are people that prefer to go solo a lot. As for the BEP award, there should be a huge penalty for soloing, or people will just take Reaver, Heavy Assault, Flail and do nothing but kill enemies, as opposed to vital equipment-skill-related activities like repairing generators, terminals, etc. that don't shell out the BEP award.
Just my opinion.

My look is that usually I'll squad but when I come close to a new BR, which have become few and far between now, I like to solo while still chatting with my outfit, and actually doing anything they ask, but it just seems to be better to not be in a squad right now, when trying to reach a BR. And, I'd also like to add that contrary to popular belief, CEP is not as hard as people think it is. Though I don't lead everyday or whatever because I'm coming closer to BR20, I find that when I do lead that as long as you keep the squad from becoming ADDish and maintaining a focus by using cap locks or some other method that they usually are willing to cooperate. But who am I to say anything?

Oh get off the pot Veteran. Vehicle drivers are not obsolete. Vehicles just received some nice buffs, and there still seems to be a lot more of them on the 'field than before the balance pass.
If you're the type of person who feels compelled to use the HART as your sole means of transportation "because you can" then YOU are the person ruining gameplay. While yes it is possible for people to recall/hart/recall/hart endlessly it sure doesn't seem to be happening cause I'm not seeing a steady stream of drop-pods like you claim is happening.
Seriously, dial down the drama dude.

Heh .. Elf, you hit it on the head there. I like squading for the teamwork aspect. As you can see by my massive kill totals and the fact it took from release until the second week of October to reach BR20. :D

I play squads either if my outfit squad is having an off day and just wants fun or if there is one of those random squads forming in te sanc. You never see those anymore because of all the outfits, i mean outfits are getting alittle boring nowadays.
Then i'm solo or a 3-4 man black-ops squad in my outfit, me being the deliverer or sniper/lightning guy.

Well since the 1-minute hart I dropped gal and harasser, no use for them. Now i have mosq and flail.
And I recall then hart ot the same cont all the time, its by far easier than...
1. get in line (if there is one)
2. Get necessary gunners (again, if there is a need)
3. Drive/fly your way to the target
4. Bail/Park and then head in
or....
1. Recall
2. Hart
See? It's just a superior form of transportation

I play for BEP...Mainly because when I get a character to a level wheres it's fucking insane to get to the next one(Spee), I just create another one.
I love levelling up.

Dial down the drama? Is that anything like dialing down the center? If you're Carrot Top, I bid you stop trying to get me to switch my collect-calling habits.
But seriously, I didn't post this to be dramatic, I honestly think that a logical player would use the recall/HART or suicide/HART method rather than take the time and spend the certs on vehicles. I picked up Deliverer after the 1-minute HART and I have to say that getting passengers/gunners is a trial. People actually turn down a free ride to the next base, it's weird.
If you're mad because I criticize Heavy Assault, comfort yourself that my opinion makes absolutely no difference to the devs, who I'm sure are doing their best under difficult circumstances.
Mr. T owned Carrot Top anyhow.

Well I've been squadding a lot on emerald, since i got a new outfit and i wanna get a feel for how they work and stuff. Obviously im gonna squad on emerald at all times unless i just dont wanna be hassled with stuff and am looking for a quick 30 minutes to 1 hour of action, without following/commanding orders.
Now on konried, i've started playing that more, so i've found the most effective thing for me is to get in a 2 man squad with someone that kills a lot (Kiowa). That way i get pretty good xp dividends from myself and him. Using this system as well as just soloing i've been able to gain 3 BR's in one week (br 6-9)

I still have my Deliverer cert .. and people still jump in. Plus it helps to have something to carry the LLU. :D
