We all have our fair share of base hacking experience. ever fougt in the woods? i mean big fights, littles fights, anything? i'm getting so bored of fighting in a base. i can seriously make my way to any control room without my eyes open. They partly created the LLU system because they created this entire continent full of beautiful landscape and no one fights there. ever fought in the swamps, the heavy forests, or the mountain ranges? I say try to. even if you have to set up a fight, do so. create a 25 on 25 match in the woods or swamps or more or less people. see what the continents contain. take a look around. screw CC, stay where the land is beautiful and contains more then rocks and ziplines.

Some of the most memorable fights ever seem to occur either in the snow or the swamps. But yes fighting outsid ebases is fun, or fighting defensively at a base with my enforcer for point defense agaisnt incoming infantry.

I have never been in the wilds in a massive fight, I suspect this has to do with spawn issues. ie you die and have to walk back there.
I have however had some cool tree and swamp battles when trying to breach a base. Some of the bases have some cool valley/forest terrain between the towers and the bases and these make for some interesting troop battles.
Of course. if I could call in a fire mission and wipe everyone of those vision obscuring trees out I would. Hard to snipe the guys on the base when trees are in the way. :)
Last night we were defending a base and the nme had set up two flails on a northern peninsula. Although this didn't cause any away from base infantry battles it did create a mission. We had to leave the defensive permiter of our base and take those things out, and that was kinda interesting.
I will agree my most memorable battles have been in the wooded areas.

I was at a battle in searhus were there was vs nc and tr all in the crater. wildest fight I've ever seen.
I get in them all the time, they basically amount to a base fight that is so ugly the invaders are in a perpetual state of travelling from a tower/ams to the base, through the intervening terrain.
A few of the more interesting places these have occured at recently for me-- Leza and Faro on Cyssor, Acan on Hossin, Xelas and Tumas on Amerish, Kusag on Ishundar, and between Aton and Mont on Solsar.

I've always said/thought this - Planetside has absolutely huge and diverse environments, yet they are rarely used for anything more than sightseeing. The bases might as well all be right next to each other if people aren't going to use all that space stretching between them.
The best fights I have ever are those which occur around a tower that isn't right next to it's base. For example, on one of the grassy continents there is a tower out of view from the main base which is surrounded by trees. For literally hours, there was a battle between this tower owned by NC and my TR buddies which were spawning from two different AMSs down the road. The battle was just awesome - everybody using the trees for cover and such.
If they devs aren't going to push battles into the environemnt a bit more, they should at least develop the environment right around the bases. It's always more fun to attack a base with a huge mountain on one side for snipers as an example, whilst on the other side there's loads of trees for vehicles and MAX units to hide in.
So much wasted potential with this game, as usual.

On Amerish there seems to always be big ole evil outdoor fights between the first few bases close to the VS sanct. Gunuku battles seem to be some nice harry fights near the bridges.
Well at least on Johari.
I have found outdoor battles are much more pleasant now that AMS's are no longer the big mowers they used to be. Outdoor battles used to suck, because they looked more like an AMS demolition derby than a tactical assault.

My most memorable outdoors fight was on Ceryshen. We had just captured a base and were trying to repel the TR. I walked out to the trees near the tower, and ran around for about 30 minutes killing everyone I found. It must've been about 30-40 people. I'd kill them loot any medpacks and ammo I could and then would repair myself and do it all over again. Best damn fun I've ever had.
One thing they could do to increase the amount of outdoor fights is make it so the LLU stays put for 15 minutes and must be defended. You can't rehack the base it came from to short circuit the process, so you have no choice but to set up defenses at that location.

The outdoor fights are awsome, they need to implement so kind of thing were you have to actualy capture ground inbetween bases to move to the next one

Setting up capturing area would be a huge step in the game and it would be pretty cool.

It is going to be very hard for he devs to find a way for the terrain to be fought in more then it already is.

I had a recent fight on Ishundar at Enkidu. We had the tower and were defending it from the vanu all while trying to assault the base which we being defended by the Terrans.
Eventually the Vanu over whelmed the terrans and brought their gens offline. This opened up an opportunity for us to press in and take the base.

I love bridge battles, tanks on both sides, snipers and AV going crazy... and even better if you have planes :) that rocks.

One of my favorite fights every was around Caer on Forseral. There's a long set of rolling hills to the west of the base. We (VS) had Caer and the TR had some AMSs on the far side of those hills. Spawn, get geared up, and then head for those hills. Staying on top of the hills let you see around and rain death on other below but you were sniper bait. Staying in the valleys kept you hidden but your line of sight was very short. You run along, see an enemy, toss some plasma, jump down in the valley, kill some more, start to climb out, and then a chaingunner would come over the ridge and let loose.

There should be some sort of thing outside of bases that can be used to help out empires and it would promote outdoor fights maybe like some modules (for all of the players not just Core Combat users)
Like a module that would give certain bonuses for certain weapons and veh (like the punisher for example good weapon but really weak) Of course there would be Lots of these modules spread around the place and would be seen on the map.

Change the CC modules to cover a certain range (Similar to SOI but larger) and make the receptacles for them be far from bases/towers. You could explain it by a small alien artifact at that locaton that acts as a transmitter for the module when it is installed. Give the receptacle a hack timer before it releases the module so people could not just walk up and take it. Also, allow the module to continue to provide it's benefits during the hack. The hack timer would just be there to alert the owning team that a module was in jeopardy.
Has 1000 problems as a concept but, just an idea to promote fights away from bases/towers.]
Edit: Get out of my head Black! Call this a follow on to his idea.

I do indeed. Though I am only used to proving it in game and not on the boards as well!
