I have a problem with my cd drive. I see it in Device Manager and Nero, but when I go to my computer it's not there.
It's a pain in the ass to install games from CD's: Rip with Nero, mount onto Image Drive, then install.
Maybe someone could suggest a program that can read CD's and install from them.

If it doesn't autoplay when you insert it try going to the run command and pressing D:\setup. D being your default drive name.

Do you have more than 1 cdrom? Is the HD on the same IDE channel?
Sounds like aspi may be hosed. I think you can go to Nero's website and search for ASPI and download the latest one. This might clear it up for you. Burning software can really mess with Windows cdroms.

This happened to me once, my CR rom when bad and becuas eit was the master of my CDrw it crashed that too. this was before i knew alot about computers but i do know that the reason it isn't detected is because its either unpluged form the mobo, broken, or the icon got deleted.
run comand prompt, put a data disk in the drive, and try to open the drive from that, if you can then you deleted the icon somewho and i have no idea were to get it back. if you can't read it you need a new cr drive man.
Try to get a 75x one if you can find one, they are relay sweet but they can rip poor quality CD's to shreds and send splinters out causing bodily harm (aka shrapnel and disk bits loged in walls and skin)
