I'm from England, Newcastle, where Geordies come from. A term which has it's roots in George Stephenson (the inventor of the locomotive steam engine), who came from that area.

'Aboot' is a Geordie word, translated, 'about'.

Here's some others:

Divvint : Don't
Gan : Go
Howay : Hello
Maan : Dude (or the equivalent)
Toon : Town, or more precisely to an area of drinking establishments.
Bleart : Ladies
Pull : To chat up or engage in witty conversation with a view to 'shaggin' them.
Shaggin : Sexual intercourse
Doon : down
Lyke : Like, a nonsensicle word added to the end of most Geordie sentences.
