WANTED: PS Account Number

I've downloaded the 7 Day Trial and I must admit - I underestimated the game. Now, I would like to purchase an account key and continue playing. Is it possible that I purchase a account key from someone and not buy the retail box ?

The trial download is a full version right ? Can I just use a retail box account number and play ?

Yeah it's the full version. But I wouldn't go posting on the official PS forum, people there don't seem to be particuarly nice.

First off thats illegal, second I dont think it would work. The game you have in the 7 day trial probly degrates itself to prevent ppl from using it after that. (deletes a key file)

Id like to ask: Why would it be illegal ? Im just buying off an account key. Its like second hand PS. When I played Ultima Online it was a second hand account as well.

1) All account keys are 1 use only, to stop exactly this from happening.
2) its illegal because your not buying from SOE but from some random person who doesnt have the right to sell it (even if they could)


Just go out and buy the boxed set i really dont understand why people dont want to. i mean, its quicker to have the disks as a backup rather than re downloading if/when you have a probleme.

You can resell things that you bought, you just cant reproduce them or modify them. Like if I buy music CD I can sell it for $5. But when I reproduce it and sell it thats when theres trouble. Only dealy is if they have a clause in the EULA that states that.

Its against the ULA you click "I agree" on to play. If you buy the retail game you still get to keep your characters you've created. you just use the key from the retail box and log in with your current account and they will be there.

You could search ebay; that seems to work. Just be careful what you're buying.

Really, because of the EULA, we don't actually own Planetside, we're only granted a license to use Sony property. Restrictive licenses are all the rage with software companies.

Can't sell accounts. It's illegal. Every time you click "I Agree" you've told them you won't do it.

Can't you just subscribe from your 7-day trail and it will charge you for the game as well as your subscribtion? SOE should send you your own registration key and stuff. I thought you could still do this. This way you don't have to buy the boxes if you don't want to. But I still like having disks as a backup. (Of course, there have been so many patches its probably quicker just to download the current version)

You dont understand the way the patcher works in PS do you?

It Scans the files you have and Changes the ones that need to be changed, and Downloads any new ones you need. Updating just PS takes i dunno 5-10 mins on 512k down and about 2 hours to Do CC ontop of that, recently found out after i blew my computer up (only took 3 mobos and a PSU to fix)

What's illegal about it? I don't get it. This guy lives in south east Asia and can not simply go to the store and buy the boxed game locally. They don't have it, and international shipping costs a fortune and takes forever. I see used software for sale all the time, just like used everything else. Please explain what the problem is with this.

Because this is an MMO, and you sign a EULA everytime you play.

most software is buy once, no extra charge, the stuff that you have to pay for on a regular basis is diffrent isnt it.

If somebody in Asia wants to play, they can play, just costs a bit more to get the disks, its illegal and thats that. Buy the dam box, you gets all sorts of shiny and glittery bits that make you go "Oooooooohhhhh Ahhhhhhhhh teh shinyz0r!".

PS accounts are non-transferable. You might be able to get away with it if you get their CDs as well as their username and password, but definitely not with just the 7-day trial version. Anyone that would give you their CDs and account/password info is an idiot if they didn't use gamecards, as they just threw in their credit card number as a "thank you" gift.

Hey, long time veiwer, first time poster...don't know why I'm starting here but Rome wasn't built in day...

Anyway, all you need is a unactivated key and that 7 day trail is a as good as gold. Trust me, I bought the game and got bunk CD's, didn't want to wait for Sony to mail me out some more so I d/l the 7 day trail, used my key from the CD's and I was in like gin.

Shit, if you don't even want to buy the game go to your local game dealer and ask to look at the PS manual or some other dumb ass excuse to look at the game CD's. Hell, if they let you look at em you could grab the key off of those. Then punch that puppy into your trail and away you go.

That would be illegal. Very illegal. Besides if a game dealer lets you open a package like that, I'd be very surprised.

As for the other things you said, yes, if you can get a legal account key, the seven day trial will work.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply to this post. I've played alot of MMOGs - the only one so far offering a download and full account key purchase key online is: Anarchy Online.

Replying to Jagd about the credit card: They can always enter a proxy number before selling an account. Card verification only happens when a transfaction is to be made (ie. end of the month).
