Crossposted from the official forums. To my knowledge, this is an original idea.

My idea to save the gal... extra troop room. Lemme explain.
With the upcomming release of the Lodestar, the Galaxy will see even less use because of it's devaluated vehicle bay. The answer is twofold, yet simple:
1. Whenever there is not a vehicle in the bay, enable jumper seats that fold down from the wall. This should allow for anywhere from 4 to 6 more soldiers (Non-MAX) to sit in the galaxy.
2. Leave the vehicle boarding proceidure the same(Drive up to circle and hit g, then roll in), but give the pilot Manual control over the cargo bay ramp-hatch. This could be useful for a number of things...
- Extract a doomed attack force from the top of a tower without forcing them to jump and hike to the gal.
- Hover beyond a cliff, and let an escaping vehicle jump it and land in your cargo bay (a la Star Trek: Nemesis).
- Deposit a strike force on top of a building without the flashy *SHOOT ME* graphics of a kenetic dampener drop.
Many possibilities for a realtively quick addition.

I maintain that bundling Galaxy, Lodestar, Sunderer and Deliverer for 3 credits would kick ass.

Erm, ok.

None of that would change the fundamental problem with the galaxy, the HART is always faster and simpler.

though a "transport cert" would be great, i think that 4 vechs would warrant 4 cert points. though atm i agree with 3, but if they nuke/extend the hart timer (cross your fingers) it would need to switch to 4 points.
/edit/ i would love to see a flying short bus. maybe the size of a lib, but has 1 pilot, 4 passengers, and a tailgunner. that would be awesome. the passengers could either "eject" or rope down (ie Black Hawk Down style). Pilot has a 8 pod rocket launcher, no boost; tail gunner a 20mm gun. Passengers can use thier weapons from the sidebay, but damage also hits them directly (ala Tribes1).

Ok, I agree Incompetent. Increase the HART time to at least 20 minutes. What I (meant) to suggest was a way to maintain it's current viability in the face of the upcomming lodestar, plus give it a tactical twist. Getting it's population back to the wonderful numbers we saw in beta is another story alltogether.

It serves a completely different role then the loadstar though, the loadstar moves tanks and heavy vehicles while the gal moves infantry with light vehicle support. The loadstar shouldn't affect gal usage at all (if there was any to affect, that is.)

Leave HART timer where it's at, but only allow drops on the outskirts of friendly SOI's. Players would have greater control with getting close to the action THEY want, but will be more dependent on tranport certs when going on the offensive. This will also prevent people from HART dropping as a means to intercept LLU's and modules during transport.
After this gets some real server testing to see how players respond, then look at changing the HART timer.

Unless the Lodestar can carry vehicles that have passengers. If that's the case then yes it will indeed render Gals all but useless.

I hate gals(srry but i really do)
I'll bet they're going to bundle the Lodestar in with the Galaxy cert anyways, like they've done with most of the recently added vehicles. If only they'd do that for all light/heavy vehicle combos so we'd have more certs to burn.

The loadstar shouldn't affect gal usage at all (if there was any to affect, that is.)You're missing my point. Galaxies are nearly totally ignored recently as of late. The fact that there will be a new vehicle capable of carrying everything the gal can (one of it's few unique features, arial vehicular transportation), and possibly in greaters quantities then the gal, one of it's few totally unreplicatable features is obsolete. Sure, you can still hotdrop, but one of it's few unique abilities is gone.
I think my idea would make it a little more diverse and a little more, shall we say, "spicy". But that's just me.
