Here's an idea, not entirely original, but a good idea. There is a weapon the U.S. aviation arsenal called an AC-130. Its basically a C-130 cargo plane that was originally designed to haul troops and small vehicles. This type of fixed wing weapons platform was first utilized by the U.S. in the Viet Nam Conflict. The modern day version of this is called the AC-130 Spectre. It sports a 105mm howitzer, 40mm cannon and several 20mm Vulcan heavy machine guns. All of it is equiped with thermal imaging that allows it to circle high over head for long periods of time and provide close air support day or night.

I will also attempt to add a link of this piece of equipment in action. Be warned ahead of time, that this link shows actually video of operations in Afghanistan against terrorist cells. At first I had reservations about putting the link here. But the supporting cast of this video would love to put an end to you and your option to play Planetside and everything else you may do.

Enjoy..

Hey,

I like your idea but I found 2 main problems, I think:

1) The flight ceiling for Air Craft is only 400 meters. It is not nearly enough to perform the assault demonstrated in that video.

2) A Galaxy is the most armored ship in the game, if you give it rockets it would be unstopable. There would be no other vehicle (besides a Galaxy) that could counter-attack and destroy it.

Galaxies are hard to obtain, and hard to land.
3 certs.

I wouldnt mind it being a bumbering attack craft. Even with missiles, it will lose against reavers. (serious blindspots).

Delta has a point. it is a cool idea but don't think it would be possible.

Nah. A galaxy with...ahem...cannons? Oh my. Oh, oh dear my.

I like the Gal the way it is, nothing really wrong with it. The two 20mm's and the 12mm on the tail is all the weaponry it needs, and one cargo slot is all it needs, the Lodestar will deal with that.

My guess is they decided they were to over powered and would have turned the Gal in flying fortress, instead of transport aircraft.

I agree that mimicking th weapons of a AC-130 would not make for good game play. But adding the weapon off a lightning and maybe a heavier machine gun on it wouldnt be out of line.

As far as the limited altitude of 400 thingies... I dont know what its measuring...I know that a liberator flying at max altitude can be tough to hit with my TR anti-air max.

Anyway, was just a thought.
