Silly Analysis

With the help of a Vanu buddy and some looted Jack Hammers I did a rather silly test. I loaded up with Agile Armor with Surge and a Heavy Assault Weapon.

I�m TR and have a BR of 14 at the start of this test. What I did was I just hit �instant action� from the TR sanctuary and charged into battle 24 times. I did this 8 times with each of the 3 Empires heavy assault weapons and fought until I died. I know this test is far from scientific as many factors come into play. In each case, by chance, I went up against NC. Anyway, here are my results�

Lasher: 8 deaths to 9 kills
MCG: 8 deaths to 13 kills
Jack Hammer: 8 deaths to 31+ kills

My last JackHammer was lost when I ran from a Vanguard and managed to get into a Prowler that needed a chain gunner. A few seconds later we were toe to toe with the Vanguard both main guns blazing, chin gun hitting at point blank range, and a few infantry shooting small arms and grenades at the Vanguard. The Vanguard powered through the Prowler and mowed a few infantry on the way out. This was the only time in this test that I was killed by a vehicle (hence the "+" in 31+ kills).

Well, like Bugs Bunny says �If you can�t beat them, join them�. I�m going NC tomorrow morning when I wake up. With the exp you get for kills now, I should be BR15 again in NO time... I just need to make sure I cert in JH and Vanguard.

You could have just as easily loaded your locker full of Jackhammers, then replace when convenient. But, I guess the lure of the Hammer was too great. Good luck over on Johari.

Why is that people who loot weapons and use them always get more kills than those of us who use those weapons dedicated for months?

Because when it's hard to come by you tend to try harder, and make every shot count.

This is true but, with respect, I want to counter-point something. This is pretty much just a FPS game with nifty side missions. So either you can kill better than your opponent or you spend your time getting killed by that opponent. The player who kills better will have a huge advantage. LLU run� module fetching or stealing� base defense� base assault� and the fastest/best way to level up is killing�

The best skill set for raw killing power IMHO is: Jack Hammer (Agile + Surge), Vanguard, and Reaver.

This is also a good point, but I did not fair anywhere near as well with the Lasher, and that is a �looted� weapon also. I will say this though; weapon selection depends on your particular fighting style.

I like the JH because maybe with the exception of a few guys with lashers spamming a narrow hallway the JH is the king of close quarter combat. Just don�t get caught in the wide open with it and you are OK. This suits my particular fighting style and I�m much more proficient at in your face �twitch� fighting than anything else. I kind of got tired of seeing the JH NC and trying to keep my distance as he Surges towards me. Backpedal surging is not my style.

There is one nasty tactic that JH users do that makes them particularly tough. Get a Rexo, JH, Personal Shield, and Audio Amp and camp a turn in a stair well. Hide in the turn with Audio Amp on, wait until a victim comes along, switch your personal shield on and audio amp off, step out and tri-burst. After the tri-burst switch firing mode to standard finish them off (not needed 90% of the time). My buddies and I call this �King of the Stairs�.

The only way to beat the �King� is with a TEAM. You can know where he is, and there is not much you can do. Your options are pretty much leave or die. So VS and TR, if you are going up stairs in a base or tower and you see several packs from fallen teammates on a flight of the stairs get some troops or a MAX. Don�t go up there alone.

MCG eats JH at most ranges, and lasher always wins in corridors. JH has many weaknesses and is in no way a versatile HA weapon. It kills in 3-4 shots up close. So does a sweeper. ATM the Heavy Assault cert is pretty fine, surge just needs to be fixed so there is less warping.

I play king of the stairs too, but I plant boomers right around the inside corner. People are lemmings, they always stick to the inside walls when climbing stairs. chk chk BOOM!
