I've got a question (yeah I know, No !@#$ Sherlock). I'm building a computer (to play planetside, don't have one at home yet) but I haven't been in too much of a hurry. Reason being, DSL and Broadband are not yet available in my area. Add to that, sattelite price wise is sky high (no pun intended). So my question is, how is Planeside on a 56k modem? Is it worth hurrying my project or should I just take it slow and wait untill DSL is finally available?

It will be a slide show in huge battles but, unfortunately, the Planetside engine caters to those on a slow connection. Be ready to get alot of hate tells stating you are a hacker/cheater because of the amount of warping and jumping around your character will be doing.

If you build up a powerful comp, you will do just fine in the small to medium battles.

Until you get DSL/Cable in your area, best bet would be to do behind the enemy lines tactics, such as blowing gens, spawn tubes and being a general pain in the enemies ass.

I used AOL 56k for about 3 months after i bought planetside, and it realy wasn't that bad unless you get into one of those huge zergs, i generaly flew reaver or sniped at the enemy base that was suplieing the Enemy zerg so to be usefull but not in the thick of the action were i would be a stiing duck

yea you could ask powdahound if he was still here. :brow: but if you have a great computer it should be bad.
