I joined Markov today to just tool around and try my hand at NC. So I go to the sanctuary with my BR1 brand new character.
While there going through the various weapons to level up a bit, I see 2 NC players messing around with Punishers.
They are firing plasma grenades full auto! And further they are somehow bypassing the instant weapons lock you get for shooting a friendly in the virtual reality training center. The grenades were spamming so quickly out of the punishers as to make a steady stream and they never ran out of grenades.
They were both just horsing around, unable to really do any damage. But, damn, but what if they did this in a game?
Ok so this brings me to my question...
1. Is this just a known glitch in the sanctuary VR training range? Has anyone heard of this before?
2. Or is this a known cheat or hack?
3. Should I post their names here? One was BR20/CR5 and the other BR20/CR4 in the same outfit. I looked them up on PS Stats.

I've seen this at the VS sanc a week a go. Some guy with a standard rifle firing continuously with no reload. This CAN do damage, though not at the ROF it appears. The guy shot a couple of my squad mates once or twice since he was running around wildly with a constant stream of fire. Its a common bug in a few games that I've noticed. Everything from Day of Defeat to BF1942 and Galactic Conquest seem to have it. The gun will damage at normal rate of fire, but will LOOK like a high ROF.
Thats my theory anyway. Somebody that acheives and exploits this in the main game will probably be quickly screen captrued and reported. What BR 20 would risk a character block?

It's probaly a glitch/lag if they avoided the FF weapons lock in the VR....
Some pictures will be very nice.
Names? no need to trash someones name if you are not 100% certain.
How about sending them a /tell?

I was driving my thresher and had some random guy as a gunner. He was firing at something when I believe he went LD. The thresh's gun kept firing continuously even after it should have ran out of ammo. It would have been pretty cool except the gun was locked pointing to my right and slightly behind. I tried to aim it at a DC max but couldn't get a shot lined up. Eventually drove away and got blown up by a reaver while repairing.

Ok, cool. No damage would explain why they did not trigger the VR area weapons lock. They just ran around the firing range spamming plasma grenades like crazy.
I took a few screenshots, but nothing really good was shown... like a nice arcing stream of grenades... man that fires the nades FAST! You have to see this in action to appreciate it. I'll be downloading and installing FRAPS when I get home this evening. A little 2 min AVI video would have been both impressive and convincing.
Thanks again for the "proof" and confirmation :)

Is the not taking damage thing a bug maybe?
I am a VS on emerald and the other day while playing as my alt DarkZealot I hacked a prowler sitting there. I hopped in and starting to blow away everything around me. Someone eventually came and started driving and we soon realized that we weren't taking any damage. So to report this bug/cheat the driver drove the thing into a TR controlled courtyard and just started recording on fraps. We just sat there for about 5 minutes getting pounded by about 90 guys not taking any damage. I didn't fire the main cannon at all but we had some noob think it was cool to just rack up kills manning the main turret wiping out tons of people (driver should have kicked him).
Anyway, I don't have anyscreenies or anything but I was just wondering if this is an exploit to a bug or an actual cheat?

No,
I think the bug/glitch/trick with the Punisher firing grenades is just a graphic thing. They make it seem to continuously rapid fire grenades, but the grenades are just visual... they don't do damage, don't count against your ammo supply, etc.
What I saw was just 2 bored veteran players amusing themselves in the VR area with a harmless game glitch that they know how to trigger.
As for what you are talking about, Ive never seen that myself, nor have I seen any blatant cheating. Anything I see in the game I will record (FRAPS) and report here and with SOE.

Try this one on for size. I was gunning for a mag with my buddy driving, and we were driving around the courtyard. Here comes another mag and he decided to do what we are. Well, SOMEHOW, he was faster than us. He ended up lapping up. He was going almost, if not equally, as fast as a Reaver. I know, because everyone started racing around the CY, Reavers too. We asked him if he was Speed Hacking, and he said No, he doesn't know why he can drive so fast. I only wish I could have seen him fire the gun. That would have told me weither he was lying about it, or not.
