I just bought Planetside today, because hey, it was 20 bucks and I needed a new game to try. It looks great, and from what I've played so far, the game is a lot of fun.

One problem.. I get disconnected CONSTANTLY. My brother has the same problem. We're running on a pretty stable cable modem, and have never experienced connectivity problems with any other game, but we have not been able to steadily play this one. After being in game for 5-15 minutes, I get disconnected. Either a message that simply says "You have left the world" for no apparent reason, or one that says my computer stopped recieving packets and it will try to reconnect, which it doesnt, so we just have to exit.

This doesnt just happen at random time intervals either, usually when it's loading a new continent it will disconnect us, then it takes 5-10 more tries to get on all the while being disconnected while the continent loads, or packets stop coming as soon as we enter the game.

In case it matters, we're playing on Emerald, where it shows around 70 ping regularly.

Do you use a Router?

Don't worry Goddslayer. Flammey has never been particuarly helpful. I'm basically having almost the same problem as you. Except that the patching system never seems to finish. I believe I am using a Router and now I'm worried if I ever get in-game. Try posting this in the Tech Forum as well, you'll get more help there.

No, right you are. I'm not trying to help you. I'm trying to destroy you.
My idea, remove the firewall from your router. There are ways. Just contact your router creater company and ask them about disconnecting the firewall, and why. They'll tell you how.

If it's a Linksys router, just upgrade the firmware and you'll be all set. I was having the same problem when I got PS, but the firmware fixed it. Routers are fine in PS with the right firmware.
