View Full Version : Broken Empire Need

I play on Konried pretty exclusively, and I've noticed that TR is generally underpopulated, usually drastically. Anyone who plays on Konried has seen this. The thing is, the Empire Need doesn't show TR, which it should considering how rarely TR has the bigger population. Apparently, Konried TR have learned to fight against larger forces, because we don't do too bad. Still, it's a bit unsettling when you log off with 25% versus 41% VS or NC and the Empire Need shows NC.
I know it's supposed to be factored over the last 24 hours, but I've played enough to know that TR is clearly the minority on Konried.
You'd be surprised how much fun it is to fight a superior force, though. Nothing like multiple targets so your men don't starve for kills.
God I love the Terran Republic. Time for another stimpack.
edit: Is there any chance it's based on the number of locked continents? Today when it showed NC as the Empire Need, NC had no locked continents with about 10% more players than TR. TR had three locked continents.

Ever thought that maybe the Konried TR just have less people playing in your timezone? :)

I sort of agree with you there Veteran. Me though, I play all three empires, and I don't really HAVE a favorate. I have a BR20 VS, so I don't get anymore BEP there, so sometimes it's nice to go to another sever, play another empire and start all over. It can be hard though. You really do get used to having all those skills.
On topic, I am not really sure how "Empire needed" works. Though your reasoning seems right, but I'll take it one step further and say it's not continents, but total owned bases. I think the empire with the least amount of bases owned is the empire that show up as being needed.
Seems logical.

I aways take these posts seriously until I see a "apparently we've developed more skill than the enemies, because even though we're outnumbered we still do fine". Are you sure you're outnumbered? I am very reluctant to believe that you do alright, despite being outnumbered, because your side is more skilled than the other sides.

I don't have a timezone per se, I work third shift and have three days off a week, so I play all hours of the day.
As for being sure about being outnumbered, /who teams doesn't lie (at least I don't think it does). I can't count the number of times I've done a /who teams and gotten 22% TR, 25% TR or even as low as 18% TR.
As for superior skill, it's part of the TR genetic structure. Nothing I can do about it.

Want to know something funny? I've done a /who teams and gotten 22% TR, 35% NC, 43% VS, and we've still been doing shitty. It's because our friggin' CR5's. Sometimes numbers really don't mean anything.

Konried is the server I play on most and I have to agree with you. A large majority of the time we (The VS) are fighting the NC, not the TR. I find it a blessing when we have a large battle with the TR, and the NC don't come barging in...
P.S. Veteran, I think I killed you once...I have no proof though!

I played TR on Konried for sometime. I was at one point BR16. I no longer play TR on Konried though. I kept getting annoyed when the CR5's would begin pulling squads and platoons off the offensive just to go quell some ghost hacker in a skeeter.
I'm not saying that they pulled us away to stop a rush of VS or NC. I am seriously saying that I saw CR5's begging squadleaders to recall and HART to secure some tower or ghost hacked base.
I'm not pointing fingers, hell I am not even CR1. But I've watched enough 'Great Blunders in Military History' on the History channel to know a misuse of resources when I see it. :)
Bullshit, anyone whining about populations is stupid.
They are different every night, and usualy pretty even, I can name many times when the NC were down to 20% for a night or two.
I play on Konried, and the populations are very even, yesterday it was VS: 36% TR:32% NC:32%...
Last night I was playing on Konreid from midnight to 2am (EST) and a /who teams revealed 42% TR, 36% NC, 22% VS although usually the NC seem to have the highest population. However, this is across the entire server and it rarely (if ever) has a direct correlation to the fight you are currently involved in. Not only that, but if you did a /who teams every 5 minutes you would get different numbers almost every time, which really makes it a meaningless statistic.
Before complaining about being outnumbered in a firefight, try the /who empire commands (empire=TR, NC or VS) which will show you how many players from that empire are currently on the same continent as you. This is, of course, a much more realistic guage of what you're up against. The only catch is that those lists are truncated after 25, so once the zerg is bigger than that you'll never really know.
