wtf it gets below zero in the desert?

Ground heats up faster than water, but cools off faster. So, without a large water source like a lake or something, the desert gets really cold at night, and hot in the day. A lake would allow the ground around it to stay warm, and spread throughout the rest of the ground. Also, air currents would push the heat from the water over the land.

Meh. I'm not a heat-o-phile, I was born in the land of gangs and cold- Detroit. Blizzards happened.

And for the record, the hottest I've been was at Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico. Had to be over 120 that day.

That place rox. Went to Mexico for honeymoon and toured it. Great pics from there. Ran all the way up to the top of the pyramid. F'n too scared to run down it though. Spidey crawed down it.

I hear ya Hamma. Last year, during a freakish Ice storm in the Capital Region I woke up to a house that was around 35 degrees. Talk about f'n cold! No electricity. Had to spend the weekend over at mother in laws, just down the block from where we were living. How do you figure that? She's got power and we don't? Oh well.

Molecular motion creates heat. This can be seen in the microwave oven- microwaves accelerate motion of the water in your food, causing heat. Even solids can jiggle a little. As temperatures cool, molecules slow down, until at absolute zero, there is no motion at all. It is the lowest possible you can go. The Kelvin scale, in which absolute zero is zero, has no negatives, as they would be meaningless.

For the record, this temperature has not been reached, except in space. (At least I think space is 0, am I wrong?)

Temperatures were in the 60s and 70s today. All the fucking whimps from Florida had jackets on. I've been through midwestern blizzards in De-Troit and I can say that 65 is fucking room temperature, suck it up.

You know how to kill a Floridian? Turn on the A/C.

Heat doesnt bother me, as I dont move, and no movement = I dont get hot. Cold irks the hell out of me, though.
