Ok, I'm probably going to be purchasing a new car within the year and I'm not sure which to choose from. I have narrowed it down to two choices, both around the $30k range.
Choice 1: Mitsubishi Endeavor XLS
Reason: Going to be starting a family soon and this would help out as far as long road trips to Wisconsin from New York. Also, gives me room to haul anything large that we may need.
Choice 2: Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Comp G package
Reason: Sure, starting a family soon, but the baby isn't going to be all that big in the first place. Plus, it gives me my final chance to own a really nice performance car.
Your thoughts, opinions and criticism is welcomed.

If your gonna get the Pontiac then get the GTO.
But if your gonna spend 28 large then get a Mitsu Evo.

I don't even know how much Pontiac is going to want for the GTO. If it's only 2k more for it, I'd rather get the GTO with the Supercharged V8.

Go with the Mits, you'll get 150,000 more miles, and you won't have to fix it every 4 months after 15,000 miles. Pontiacs are all domestic pieces of shit. For the money, I'd look at an accord if I were you, perfect mix of practicality and sportyness and pretty much the most reliable car out now.

One problem Nav, I can't fit inside an Accord. 6'5" frame doesn't do Japanese cars. The Endeavor, however, fits me perfectly.

Ok... I'd go with the mitsubishi... but in the 30k range you might want to check out the Tiburon... great sporty car... lot's of room and you won't regret it.
But if you want one of those two... get the mitsu.

You been in the '04 models? Pretty roomy, much bigger than the 2002 body style, just something to check out. (You sure you're not thinking of a Honda Civic? They're fucking tiny, my father in law is 6-2/3 ish and he sits in an Accord with no problem at all ) I'm not sure your price range, but the Honda Pilot is huge, has a great engine, and is made in America, you'll pay sticker most likely, but you're not getting the domestic markup, just paying for the car. If you want something smaller, my Dad's got a CRV that he loves, and it's pretty damn cool.
coupe 2 door - 4 door is bigger, but I like the coupe (kids can crawl behind the seats, that's why God made them small)

Upon doing a bit of research, the endeavor is the competitor of the Pilot. Pretty much the same vehicle, but as a rabid honda fan, I'd pick the Honda over the Mitsubishi, just because, although I've seen both companies produce cars with 200,000 miles on them, and a honda with 425,000 miles.

I've heard the endevor is quite nice, We have a 2002 Mitsu Montero and it has a decent package with moonroof, rear seats and nice audio, it was 30k-32k. We also had a 1990 Montero and we drove that thing for 13 years, it was going to become mine but a cylinder cracked it had 200k somthing miles i think, i'll have to ask my dad if he remembers.

Get the pilot instead, there was just a crash deal on dateline the other night and the Pilot ranked #1 in low speed crashes (backing into poles etc) I think the mitsu was last

I can't really give good ideas for something just on flat strait streets, but if your asking for the back country, up a hill, and twists and turns.....hi. :D

Just looked at the Honda Pilot. Not too bad. Estimate payments of around $445/month.

Seeing as it's pretty much THE foreign SUV to buy, they sell out the day the come in, and most dealerships will have to order one for you - which means your's is custom what you want. They're bad ass, plus rock solid, and have all kinds of cool space features, and all of the safety features of Air Force one.

Go for a Chevrolet Prizm... I am addicted to those cars. They last absolutely forever, and are dirt cheap for a pretty nice ride. I just picked up an '01 Prizm LSi with every option available (sunroof, side airbags, power everything, remote entree, fold down back seats, etc) with 20k miles on it for $7k!
My Monte Carlo costed me twice that with twice the miles, and that damn car broke down every month, no joke... I easily spent $10k in repairs on that car over five years.
While the thing was broke I was driving my brother's old '97 Prizm, 190k miles on it, never had any major work done to it other then brakes and a new battery and it ran better then the Monte Carlo with 1/3rd the miles on it.
I work 50 miles from my home, so I put well in excess of 500 miles a week on my car, so I will never ever own another expensive "daily driver" car again.
I just got done redoing the audio on the prizm and put a GPS naviagation system in it since I am a consultant and constantly going to new places and I am in love with this car.
Oh, and don't get me started on gas mileage... The Monte Carlo barely got 18 MPG, this Prizm gets closer to 45, so I am going from spending ~$50 a week in gas to $20... That adds up real fast.
I have my sports car for my weekend cruising, but I will never drive an expensive car as my daily driver again!

The two Pontiac 6000 LE's my dad put 600k miles on and had to fix a total of 3 times, the Pontiac Bonneville my mom put 300k on and never had to fix and the one she currently drives with just over 180k and hasn't had to fix anything on yet disagree with you.
In general almost any car will last you a long time as long as you don't drive the hell out of it and take care of the damn thing. Out of those two I'd say go for the Endeavor. By the nature of the beast the Gran Prix will most likely get driven harder which means lessened lifespan and if you're starting a family the room would really be nice.

My mom spent more than $20k on electric repairs in her vw, just because of the 800 bucks she spent on a cd player in the back fucked up. Plus she got alread around 100k miles on it. Oh, and she had this car for no more than 2 years.
Get a Chevy Suburban :brow:
Suburban=family mountain car.......dunno why my mom didn't get that instead of the dumb vw.

I say get an Mitsu Evolution as those cars are badass. Its got 4 doors for the family and awd to keep it safe in the wet. The GTO is listed around $30-33k I believe and that is a pretty badass car too.

thats what I said. I'd take the Evo VII over the new GTO any day.
