Every Month Sucks

I cant play planetside anymore because of the monthly cost.

Why? you may ask.

well i bought the game well in advanced time to know that it would cost 12 bucks a month. I even agreed to pay my parents to play, but they now say NO!!!!!!!!, they dont what to give me their credit card. They say its a waist of money and i should be studying more. I GET STRAIT A's. I dont get it. We pay 50 for the game and 12 for the month. WHY do we pay every month. Sony is a multi billion dollar company. I think they will live. At least lower the price. PLEASE.

Hardware and bandwidth isn't free. You pay for the servers, and for new content. If sony only charged 50 for the box, they'd never break even, let alone make a profit.

Exactly. They have to keep all the servers running and they have to keep the bandwidth to the servers. They also have to pay the employees. Sometimes it can seem like a lot, but think about it this way. Your $13 pays for one hour of work from one employee each month. Probably not even that. Kinda puts it into perspective huh?

This has been brought up many many times. The answer will always be a resounding "no". If you can't afford the $12 you shouldn't be playing. You want to play that bad? Get a job.

I average 3 hours of game play per day.

$0.10 for a good hour of entertainment is the cheapest you are going to find anywhere.

$13 is two packs of smokes, a few sodas, a new CD or a few scratch tickets. Lots of people buy those things every day.

Econ isnt one of your subjects is it? I'm not even going to get into the actual reasons they cahrge the money they do, people have done a pretty good job. Saying something like "Sony is a big company blah blah blah" is borderline retarted argument. Companies become billion dollar revenue takers because they continue to make money. Not by given people a free ride. In todays business world you cant just break even, you have to turn a profit margin. Which considering some of the bandwidth requirements they might just barely be doing that.
