Do you think the movie will be worth seeing? Seems good enough from my point of view even thought it's a Tom Cruise movie...

It's probly only the theme that attracts me but it looks good from the previews I saw...

Discuss! (if someone saw the premiere tell me :p!)

I don't know how good the movie is going to be, but I think it is really funny seeing Tom Cruise pretending to be Japanese.

The sotry is about an American who fought in the civil war who went to help the Japanese and then decided to fight for them and become a Samurai.
He doesn't play ply a japanese

I think he is playing some english guy that trains japan's new army, then he gets captured and becomes a samurai

Was out to dinner one night when I saw a bilboard ad for it.

*looks at name* Sweet...
*looks at pic ignoring tom's face* l33t...
*looks at pic of tom cruise and realizes hes the "samurai" ............. /me walks away.

in other words, I was very disapointed, and had no intention of seeing it. but now I think I'll give it a chance, (if I can find somebody 18+ to get me in...)

Critics do hate everything, I remember Waterboy got bad reviews.

That movie's l33t.

Almost every critic is a failed director, script writer, or producer.

Which roughly translates to, "If you're a failure in the movie industry, you can at least be nationally renowned for putting down the movies of people that did a better job than you."

what would be so hard to believe about Tom being japanese?

black hair
short
skinny (ok, not all of us are skinny).

and if you pounded his face long enough, you could give him the eyes, flat nose and no chin.....

I say we try. :D
who's with me?

The very idea of this movie makes me physically ill. I will not be seeing this.

I'm hoping to go see that, assuming I can afford a trip to the theatre. I like Tom Cruise and the story sounds kind of cool..

On the other hand, I wouldn't necessarily recommend Timeline. There was ONE LITTLE THING about it that really annoyed me - the English occupying Medieval France spoke a perfect STANDARD MODERN English dialect! Argh!! Completely unfounded...

Chelle was uber pissed in the theater when she saw the english dudes talk. She leans over and says "Wtf, they're speaking modern english...*scoff*"

I kept making comments on the historical and linguistic accuracy... I guess you can't take that kind of movie *too* seriously, but STILL! If they weren't speaking Chaucerian English it would've been hella effing hard to actually hold a conversation! It would've been IMPOSSIBLE, actually! @_@ retards.

Critics don't have to do anything but tell the truth to expose Hollywood as the utter shitfest that it is.

Also, there are plenty of samurai in Japan still. The script-writer probably thought he was a smart little shit.

Bitter little man aren't we?

Ah and Chelle I had one of my friends playing in timeline... he was an extra thought. You see him a couple of time. The crossbow man's and once in a fight... didn't seen it yet :ugh:.

Yeah, the movie was pretty sweet. I think it's up there with movies like Gladiator, The Patriot, and Saving Private Ryan and stuff. 'Kay, now you can make fun of Tom Cruise some more and say I'm crazy. :D

...but the actual act of traveling back through time to Midieval France was ok? :p

What a coincidence, some other guy in a completely different forum made a thread about The Last Samurai. Same title as well.
