You know I'm young and shit....so don't make me feel too much like a kid.
So i was on the bus today, 2 kids got on the bus (one in 6th, the other in 7th). The one in 6th does babysitting and gets 20 bucks a week. But today is the 7th grade kids b-day, but her mom signed her up to work late (to 10). So she was all pissed off that she couldn't go to the party, saying its not fair.
Ask me, this is just plain funny. Its called work bitch, get use to it.
Such newb's to the real world.
And dont lecture me on my old "is this fair" thread, cause I'm gona make a new thread like that soon again cause it just annoys me.

Doesn't seem fair to me. A 6th grader doesn't need the real world yet. She should go to the party.

Enjoy life while you are young. Right now I'm 29 years old, an attorney who also works two other jobs. Why? Because my wife is pregnant (that is a really good thing :)) and we want to buy a house within a year. Problem is that houses around my area are expensive as hell. So, I work 50-60 hrs at my office, teach four college courses on thursday and friday nights and also plow snow in the winter (did it from Friday 6 pm straight until 1/2 hour ago). When I don't plow I do some general home improvement stuff with my father in law and sometimes with my cousin. I've also bartended.
Am I bitching? No. I want to do this so my future kid can start off in a great place. Should a kid who is 12 have to work? FUCK NO. She should be pissed. Jr. high is about going to parties, not having to work till 10 p.m. There will be plenty of time left for that.
And bugger, you aren't much older, right? Life and work gets much, much, much harder. Wait till there are bills and shit like that. Work and school aren't that bad compared to 90 - 100 work weeks (did that for about 3 years when I was a prosecutor). The older you get, the more you realize what you had freedom wise when you were younger.

When I am going through some obstacle in school, some insurmountably hard challenge, I just realize that I'm pretty much fucked until I can stop aging and flunk 10th grade forever. It only gets harder from here.

The real epiphany for me came when I realized that my level of success truely does come from the effort that I put into it.
Ever since high school I was always the person that did as little as possible to pass as acceptable. But maybe a year ago, the highest paid consultant at my company (who also was just like me, doing as little as possible) get a 40% pay cut (yes, 40%!), then ultimately fired for not going beyond the norm. That really hit close to me... Because I realized that I was now him... In almost every way possible... I am the highest paid consultant, I did as little as possible... So how much longer would it be till I was in the crosshairs and then out on my butt trying to find a tech job in THIS economy?
So I took four week off of work, took a vacation to Europe with my sweety and came back a different person... I am paid salery, that means that I get paid the same amount if I put in the 45 required hours, lie and only put in 30 (one of the key things that got my predecessor canned), or 90 hours. I started being the first person into the office, the last person to leave, the highest billable person, and bring in the most new contracts. I started spending every waking moment improving myself; I live ~60 min from work, so I started listening to MCSE training CDs on my drives and started piling up certifications to hang on my wall... It looks like a mosaic right now.
It is just about 1 AM, and I just finished working today, that was 15 hours on a Saturday, after a 13 hour Friday. Two years ago I wouldn't have even looked at my e-mail on a Saturday.
So what is my point you might be asking? It is that if any of you reading this are like what I was... Doing as little as possible to 'scrape by.' Then I highly recommend you take a deep look and see if that is really what you want others to see you as? Will that get you what you want? What DO you want? If you are just going into college now, and are looking at a tech degree, heed my warning: do well, go above and beyond your peers, or you will not be making more then $20,000 a year with a four year degree... The economy is not what it used to be, only the best of the best are getting the good job!

Really? My middle school was tuffer than my high school. 8) They loaded you with tons of crap in Jr high to the point you couldnt get it done if you wanted without having ot take it home. Especially cause tehy insist you did it hte long way on paper or you got bad grades. But when i got to high school you could just take the paper fill it out in 2 minutes and turn it in in half the classes. :D
And ive never had a job. Mwhahahahaha! not on purpose. Was going to but parents insisted on telling people i was schizzo to make there lack of attention to things in my life make sense so i couldnt get a damn job while i was younger cause htey wanted me to get on disability when i didnt even meat the damn requirments till now! Thank you fucking family!!!!!! GGGRRR!!!!!! I wouldve been free and making crap loads of money and had a nice fucking relationship right now with someone i really cared about. No i was "schizzo" cause they didnt understand how they could be complete idiots or be wrong about somehting??!!!?? Coming form a womens whos answer to anything i complain about is im not responsible for you emotional welfare i just have to put a roof over you head!! Yea! not responsible for a 7 year olds emotional welfare. HHAAA!!!

Exactly. What's the point of having a job? They don't really need to, and all it seems to be doing is annoying the kid, so hy force them to do it (And what kind of mom signs up their kid to work late on their birthday)

I work at my local gamestop. Its pretty cool, because when I work not that many people come in let alone buy anything. Its been picking up since its the holiday season. I make a little above minimum wage but its not bad. The problem is I loss all the cash selling games on buying games.

Hmm, good job I guess Ait'al... I don't believe you, but thats ok...
We just got done with a very extensive hiring process... Upon putting the ad in one local news paper on a Sunday I had 180 resumes printed and waiting on my desk on Weds!
We instantly disqualified anyone that did not have a four year education. That left us with a pile of over 100 still... So next step was to disqualify anyone that either did not have their full MCSE or five years of working experience. That left us with 40ish.
Now this was 40 people that were highly qualified, and we were offering 40k and no more.
We had a guy with his full NT4 and 2k MCSE, ten years of experience, but who lived in New York. He said he was so desperate that he would work for $39k a year, would start work in 3 days, and would move his family to him later on. You can not imagine how bad I felt for this guy... A very smart guy, well qualified, lots of experience, and willing to work for half what he might be worth... He has kids and a wife, all who need to be fed, clothes, and taken care of. That really made me so glad that I got a job when I did.
We read every resume thouroughly and ended up picking 10 people to call. I had my secretary call them and interview them over the phone and give me the results. 7 of those people came in for the first wave of interviews, with me. One guy was a total psycho, I personally think he was just acting because no one could be as psycho as he was. He was absolutely drenched in sweat, was wearing jeans and a stained T-shirt, knew nothing about computers, and claimed he liked to burn things. (He must have been lying, because his phone interview's answers were quite good)
Four of those people came back for round two of interviews, two sets of one hour "grillings" by our HR people.
Three passed that and came in for our hands-on lab test... In this we set up our R&D lab to be a testing lab, where there were five problems and scenarios that the guys had to work through. Only one came close to getting them all right, and he is who we hired.
This guy has his phd in Theoretical Physics, went back to school and got his masters in something computer related. He has his full MSCE, Cisco Certified Master Engineer, and all the piddly certs, ten years of experience... And he is making $40k a year!
So I am not sure where you live Ait'al, or if you are telling the truth... But if you are, then I recommend you work as many hours as you humanly stand, because the economy can not support your position, so build up a nest egg.
Ann Arbor, MI is where my company is located... And in a recent report in the WSJ it was just below Silicon Valley in tech industry spending, and it certainly shows... Only the best of the best are getting mediocre jobs!

Just got back from babysiting, $45 MOTHAFUCKAZZZZZZZZZZZzz
Octavian

Actually $45 is at all that much. Neither is 100 billion. Once you think about it, 100 isn't much though it seems like a lot when you're a kid. My dad just seems to be able to spend thousands without worrying about being poor.
EDIT - Were there any girls there that you babysitted and ended up "playing" with?

Squick i meant privately owned repair place??? Not a major company?!?!!??!
You dont know much about low end comp jobs man?? Repair as in used comp stores that also fix computers. Nothing under 22 an hour and only ever work from 9am to 3pm from monday to saturdya and less on saturdays and usuall a little more on fridays or thursdays etc.
