The purpose of this thread is try to ascertain what planetside wants the most. I've seen people with more powerful pcs get lower performance than those they should destroy. I assume that everyone has the latest drivers and is defragged. If you have earlier drivers and believe these to afford you more performance, state it. Also if you believe any of your configs or setting in windows or in game gain you better performance, state them also.
Here's mine -
Graphics setting: All lowest. 1024x768. Miles 2d aduio. Very low view range. High Network setting.

Stats in sig, but it just made my pagefile a static size of 1.6 gb and it gave a very nice boost
before static page file
sanc 60-80
flying around (no people max skeeter w/ AB)
50-70
Lite batte 20-50
med battle 20-30
Zerg 0.2 - 25
going though a door 0.2 - 5
After the page file add 5-10 on to previous maxs and min, except zerg/door mins
I just need a p4 and a second stick of memory for dual channel and i could be cruizing at 20-40 fps in zergs.

How much memory is on your 3d card?
You need 1 gig of memory, no question. Everyone who upgrades to 1 gig, the first thing out of their mouth is, "oh my god, its like a whole different game!"

there is a better prossesor from the p4, i think its the amt or somthin' but i cost about half as much and works as good or better in ALL situations, look into it. i have that and about half a gig of mem and my fps is almost constant at 30 fps, even through doors and zergs. yay.

Ok, Here are my stats:
Processor : Intel P4 3.2 (not overclocked)
Memory: 1GB Corsair XMS matched memory (not overclocked)
Motherboard: Gigabyte 8Knxp (with dual raid controllers)
HDD : Twin WD Raptor's running in RAID 0 array (10,000 rpm) for programs
WD 7,500 rpm 250mb for data storage
Graphics : Radeon AIW 9800 pro 128 mb (not overclocked)
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platninum
Connection : DSL from hell (run around 200 ping from Tokyo to Emerald server)
OS : Win XP Pro
My system is rock stable. Run all PS graphics at highest with all details. Usually have the following FPS (pre BCI):
Sanc: 120+
Flying: 80+
Small Battle: 80+
Large Battle: 60+
Zerg: 40+
Problems noted: Door stutter
Now:
Sanc: 100+
Flying: 40+
Large Battle: 20+
Zerg: 16-25
Problems noted: Doors work great, but now it stutters in battle sometimes.
BTW, the only change was Battle Concentration & Patch.
Yes I have the latest drivers, I have defragged, and I have shutdown all TSRs, except Teamspeak.

Holy christ. Makes me wonder if it's worth upgrading. This is the kind of thing I was talkng about. Seems there is little difference between my performance and yours, and yours seems to have cost you about twice mine.
[edit] just notcied your ping. That could be your problem?

My spec are this:
Pentium4 2.6 Ghz (Processor)
768mb DDR (RAM)
ATI 9000 Radeon Pro (Graphic Card)
Asus P4P 800 (MoBo)
Sancs. 50-80
med battles 40-50
zergs & walking through doors 20-30
These are just estimates right now. I just upgraded my comp a week ago. So this is what ive been experiencing right now.
Im happy for now. Everything runs smooth. I don't have a gig and my game runs fine. If you wanna save money and get better performance get an extra 256mb of ram.
Oh yeah! One more thing that might of helped my fps was the fact that I defragg my hard drive just about every week. I'm obsessed with keeping my files neat and tidy

What's the point of living if you can't ask for RAM for christmas??? :tear:

just notcied your ping. That could be your problem?
Ping varies between 150 - 300, but usually hovers around 200. BTW, my ping has not changed (and packet loss is next to nil). I have run this game while on-the-road (game room) with a ping as high as 450 and still had no problems (again, packet loss next to nil).

PC hardware is in my sig
Sanc: 150-190

I don't think my fps ever dropped below 30 on this system, i love it lol.

Whats everyones problem whit doors? i don't get a drop whit doors *shrug*.
Anyways
intel p4 2.4
1 gig 333 DDR
GF FX 5900 Ultra (got it for 50 bucks, don't ask, asslong story)
Audigy 2
All settings are max, cept foilage.
Get bout 25(low) 35(normal) in Zerg and 60 to 85(capped, vsync) most of the time.
The most important performance increase for me was selecting the proper sound. Whit emulated 3d i got 4-5 fps, whit EAX3 i get the above. Thats my tip, find the proper sound device.

Alright, did a bunch of testing this morning
As I mentioned, I tried turning the settings up from med, completely cranked. Restarted so things could take effect. FPS stayed the same. no noticeable change at all.
So, I decided to try turning them all the way down, everything all the way down and off, restarted. Same deal, no change at all. Both times I checked to make sure the settings where were I thought they were, and indeed, they were.
So yeah, I guess the lag must be coming from the processor because adding more memory had very little effect and the video card doesn't seem to have any difficulty with settings no matter where they are set to.

If you put viewing distance up and down, it affects yer fps, and how fast the enemy can see you. snipers should be the only ones w/ distance all the way up unless you REALLY wanna die to snipa rounds.
