Why im getting rid of Heavy Assault (Jackhammer)

The other day i started playing as a TR on Markov, and seeing all my friends with their Jackhammers vs. me wasnt cool, ill still be playing NC but i do agree that the Jackhammer is pretty fucking cheap at times. Id encourage others to do the same (think of what you could buy with the extra 4 cert points)

If I play NC, I grab HA for the first few BR's - The disgusting amount of kills you get with it help you level up real quick. When I hit 7, I drop it.

No offense, but your highest guy being at BR8 doesn't qualify you as a pro in levelling. It's easy as sin to get the first few BRs anyway. I can get to BR10 in 2-3 hours. Grab an AI max, kill things. Easy.

The Jackhammer isn't that great of a weapon. Its range blows chupacabra balls. The chaingun rules it in almost every respect, especially range. The JH does have its charms, including the ability to tear through armor a little better than the chaingun IMHO, but it sucks against large numbers of people(mainly because of limited shots), which both the VS and TR heavy weapons are good against.

This new multi-empire capability will get many players to try their hand at another empire. Being on the recieving end of a JackHammer is no fun. As TR and VS I loot them any chance I get. As NC I don't have the desire to loot anything. I think the hardest heavy trooper to beat is a NC Rexo with a Gauss and a JH. He will kill anything but a sniper at long ranges and will beat any other HA at CQB. Simple ownage. Fortunately MAX units and vehicles keep this combo to a rare status. Usually, you see the JH and Deci combo more.

I got rid of the JH with my NC character too. I prefer a challenge. For my 4 cert points I upgraded my engineering and hacking to CE and Advanced Hacking. I even gave up MA for the Infiltration suit. I specialize in infantry support as a cloaked killer/medic/engineer/hacker. It's amazing when faced with a cloaker and a Rexo soldier how many people let the cloaker completely distract them.

Also please please if you must exit your vehicle to repair stand on the yellow icon that lets you mount the vehicle. If you start taking damage just press "G" or whatever you configured to enter the vehicle. You are immune to damage when the mounting animation starts... you should NEVER get killed when working on your ride... yet, it happens all the time... :(

I deleted a BR10, BR18, and BR7 characters to play with a new group of people on a different empire. I'm still switching empires around to see which suits me best. With the merger, however, it's that much easier.

And I never claimed to be a pro in levelling - I just said its disgustingly easy to kill stuff with a jackhammer. I've had more luck killing things with a pulsar than with a lasher, fucking slow orbs.

I have been playing NC for a while using nothing but Sweeper/AV to get kills, and I am bored stiff, I am in the process of dropping AV and Rexo and adv med to get HA, SA and buff my deliverer into a skeeter.

Also, MCG owns. My TR loves it, br 8 in one night of playing. (Also, those 4 base hacks were all for less than 1000 each ;) got them by accident because I did not feel like recalling to miss hack.)

(just fyi, I am not so psyched about getting jackhammer, I cannot wait to fill my locker with MCGs :D )

I would never give up the JH! I think that if the VS and TR can't kill me then that is there problem and they should go and do something about it if they can.

I'm too laggy to use close combat weapons effectively. My sweeper is for self defense, and it usually fails me as I get 10fps in a shooting match and always aim behind the enemy as they warp across my screen.

No thanks. I already get owned at mid-close range (>10m) by MCGs and even some Lashers. You want me to get owned at cqc too? The JH is not fucking cheap at any time. It sucks at any range but <15m period. But indoors, there's not another weapon I'd rather have.

Welcome back from the darkside. I congratulate you on your courage and honour. You don't need to give up HA just yet though. Have you considerer the malestrome? It's pretty easy to fill your locker every so often, you just need to stop off at your nearest equipment module base before you head for battle.

The Jackhammer is a specialized weapon. It is powerful because the other weapons own it at beyond-shotgun range. NC weapons are powerful, and this one is. Try to hit an Elmo at medium range with a spreadfire gun, and you'll be displeased.

However, some of my best performances have been with a Sweeper. Once, the power went out in a base. I owned a Vanu MAX with just the Sweeper by shooting a few times, ducking back behind a door, and re-emerging in a different spot. I did this a few times until he spotted me. I circle-strafed him, blasting away. I got him- I was in Agile Armor.

I also, for some reason, sense that the Sweeper is just a tad more powerful than the Jackhammer, shot for shot, but the volume of Jackhammer shots makes it a better gun.

Makes me feel like im playing KotOR or something, I got most of my kills from Scatmax and Sniper in the first place. But yea i dropped HA beacuse its cheap and i didnt like it being used against me, i thought it was unfair so i get Uni-Max and SA (dont ask) it deleted Scat Max and gave me 3 extra cert points with out waiting 24 hours :)

Really :ofn:, but how effective is Lancer compaired to Bolt Driver? It seems like if you wanted to snipe you could get sniping for 3 cert points or is lasher shorter range noob sniper rifle

The lancer a noob sniper rifle? LOL. Hell no. It takes some skill to hit targets, not like that assbandit gimp rifle they call the bolt driver. Hey look, that guy stopped. *dead*

Can the lancer lock on? no.
Can you fire and hide, doing any decent amount of damage? no. [edit] can you shoot, and jump behind a tree
Can you use indirect fire, or guide the shots? no.
Is it extremley accurate? Compared to the other VS weapons, yes. Overall, no.

The lancer is a typical VS weapon, it's versatlie but doesn't excel. You CAN take out infanty if you have the skill. You CAN take out MAXs fairly easily from a distance, but close up you'd better be good to get those 6 shots off before you're deep fried. You CAN take out aircraft, so long as their not moving fast, and dont shoot at you. You CANT kill tanks. Unless the tank is extremley stupid. It takes over 2 full magazines just to kill a crappy turret.

I like the Lancer, becasue enough of my unit use the pulsar to take out infantry at medium range, so I hit the maxs. I found maxs were sidestepping even my best Deci shots so dumped SA in favour of the Lancer.

I don't go anywhere without it.

Not if the sniper is inside the range of his gauss, and there is cover to hide behind. The bolt driver is just too innacurate to be effective w/o the element of suprise.

I had the JH for about a week, loved it/hated it. I loved it in the spawn room or down the hall ways, besides that, it sucks. I got owned long range by cyclers and mcgs. It has it's strengths but since I don't carry RExo I can't rely on that as my one and only weapon. I'll stick with sniping and thumping.

yes i love catching the jackhamer noobs in a reaver or runnin' them down, but it is also fun to have a loadout that is anti-jackhammer :D try to beat me when i'm behind you with surge on and a MCG in my hands

im myself, am not a good upclose fighter, people in my outfit like dreamer, and evilpoptart are, but not me, what i am really good at is sniping, i can hit anything moving, as long as im not lagging and they arnt warping around. therefore, i dont use the jackhammer, i use the bolt driver, but with the interlink facility getting that nerf, or at least i think it did, im seeing way more new cloakers, i need to learn to flash DL at all times again. but those cloakers make it hard, i often find them following me to where im gonna snipe from, its a real bitch.

and ive only talked to Jagd, i cant wait till i see him through my bolt driver.
