An unreleased tune by Detroit rapper Eminem called ``We as Americans'' was the subject of a top-of-the-page report on the rabble-rousing conservative web site www.drudgereport.com on Friday. Why all the fuss? The song contains the lyric ``I don't rap for dead presidents. I'd rather see the president dead.'' While ``dead presidents'' is commonly used slang for money, the exact intent of the politically tinged song -- which includes references to cruising Gratiot, Osama Bin Laden and Eminem's troubles with the law -- isn't clear. Just another bad rap joke or something more serious? Listen for yourself at www.hiphophavoc.com.
John Gill, U.S. Secret Service spokesman, said: ``We are aware of the lyrics, and we are in the process of determining what action, if any, should be taken.'' Making a threat against the president is a federal crime, and the Secret Service is known for seriously investigating such incidents.
``Oh my God,'' said Interscope spokesman Dennis Dennehy said when informed about the Secret Service response. He noted that President Bush is not mentioned in the track. ``This is an unfinished song that was lost or stolen. It was never determined when, where or how it was going to be used. It's a work in progress. Who knows what the lyrics will say when and if the song is finally released?''
anybody know where i can get the lyrics for this song ive only heard the first 4 lines (the lines the secret service is pissed about)
