I played planetside for about 3 months after release. I quit becuase of low pc specs, dropping population, and bugs. I still keep up in the news and it seems its running alot smoother now with all the new things implemented and joining of servers. My computer is also upgraded too. So do you think it is worth it to get back into the game? If so is Core Combat worth the money? Thanks for any input :)

Defenitely start playing again. It's so much better with the new vehicles, LLU, and most of all, Facility Link Benefits, with Outfit Base Ownership just over the hill. As for core combat, eh. I'd avoid it until you try the stuff out in VR, because if you don't like the gear and vehicles, you probably won't get much out of it. The caverns are pretty close to broken as far as functional, long term play areas right now.

No, dont avoid core combat at all costs. Just the cost of the game.

they'll be adding stuff to CC, so wait until then to buy it,

Hey, you can grab a 30-day free trial if you have Windows XP and a Gamespot account, easy to do and no real hassle, or just use the 7-day trial. I'm sure you'll like the game, it's changed quite a bit.

My sub goes up Jan 11, not sure if I'll get another gamecard.

YES! Of course I am a Fanbois so take it with a grain of salt. However many changes have recently gone in that really make the game rock more than ever. Server merges have created battles on every cont all night long. New Certification combos have really injected some fun and diversity into the game that it was sorely lacking. Also a fairly recent balance pass has evened things up a bit and also helped to remove the Carmageddon feel of the game

Sweet , they started a 10-Day reactivation period for users who cancelled like me ! =) I'll just pick up a game card after the period is up.

Hell ya.. i just started playing and i love it. Of course i didnt play right after release but the game right now is very fun.

You could always try it out then quit again if you dont like it.

The best online combat game just keeps getting better. I've played steadily since launch and I'm still figuring out new ways to do things.

I have friends that quit, and now they play again full-time.

With the free client for XP owners, it's so easy to recommend this game.

Do yourself a favor and learn what kind of memory you have, make sure you have at least 512mb of it (1 gig or more is so sweet tho) and you'll be rolling.

Yeah, I'm certinally glad theres this reactivation period. I like the Core Combat weapons but its not worth 30 bucks to me since everyone says the caves are lame. I have 2x256 3200 ddr in dual channel mode and I'm kinda pissed becuase I still get these constant periodic stutters which really annoys me when I'm in a fierce 1v1 gunfight. But overall I'll be staying with it for another couple months :)

Unfortunately you need about 700+ RAM to not have any stuttering at all :tear:
