How's this for an expansion idea? Three orbital platforms orbiting the planet, fighting for control of them. If you're VS and have no platforms in your control, you get no OSs, no find enemy, no nothing. If you have one in your control, things operate as normal, but if you have two, you get reduced cost and recharge for OSs and such, with three the cost is further reduced.

Add to the mix a few things. Firstly, the platforms are a confusing maze of access tunnels and such. They give the current owners Bio lab abilities to see enemies. There are no vehicles in orbit. Also, throw some flashbangs into the weapon mix.

I think this accomplishes some of what CC was supposed to, but it might actually work, since control of the platforms would have a direct impact on planetside combat.

Needs atleast SOME open area combat or NC will have too great of an advatage.

I've always thought it whould be intresting to give Gals a suborbital ability for insertion and extration into hostile territory, and while i was thinking on that I came up with an idea very parralel to yours. What if the stations could only be reaches by loadstar and gal, most of the stations whould be indoor yes, however they could be like a dish shaped platform, the outer ring is the habitat ring a couple claimable respawn points and some inventory terms maybe a ground vehicle rearm pad. (Incidentaly you could not get into the inner dish via air only by docking your craft and then boarding through airlocks, whould great some neat chokehold fights.) So maybe a dome shape is more appropriate. Additionaly the interior of the dome between the habitat ring and the controll core whould be lethal to those not in agile or greater (slowly though) so that placing an ams in the open field whould be feasable but somewhat damaging to newly spawning troops (maybe as a counter ams bubbles could act as atmosphere.) The Controll core is a base with a 10 min controll timer and a few of the usual base amenieies as well as advanced radar for the base itself only. Also it whould be the only point on the station with its own vehicle pad, which only produces non techplant items (making heavy armor a treasured resource that must be imported from the surface) The inner no mans land should have reduced gravity allowing for higher and farther jumping and maybe a few other wierd effects (not to give the vanu something to look foreward to their max's jump jets could become directional allowing limited flight)

Theres my purge what's everyone think.

This sounds like a pretty cool idea. It would be awesome to reduce and increase the power of commanders, as they can often make or break an offense or defense. On a side note, Gunslinger, do you play MTG?

Oooh, I can't wait to co-ordinate outfits from all empires to keep the platforms neutral, emasculating all the CR5s!

They did hint that they plan to have 5 expansions for PS.

Thats a bit much, there is no reason to think that all their expansions would be like this one. The timing was all wrong, other things should have been done first. I think they realise that now

as far as I understand orbital platforms are already in the game, there's just no way to get to them. that means they're not going to change them much cause that takes lots of download time.

if they did put them in i hope they make them like the arenas in Quake 3 team arena, open vertical areas like 3 walkways one above the other and then maybe a few hallways or maybe they could show us some real citys.
