Will they ever have night time battles.
Think abou it. All vehicles have headlights. Aircraft have nightvision and lights. Bases have automatic search lights and flares can be fired into the air for invasions and recon. Too bad thier isnt a flame thrower.
Another thing. I havent played since sep. I was wondering what has happened so far. Have they wiped the servers? Made 3 only. Werner, Markov, Emerald? Just wondering, oh and what happens when you have core combat and if you dont. do you still play the original, just you get more?

nighttime is something i've wanted pretty hard for a long time. big floodlights around bases small ones around towers, and they go out when the gen gets dropped. maybe even able to shoot them out (shoot a transformer at the bottom, located along the walls between phalanx, repairable the same way)?

Man, this has been a dream of mine for the longest time...
The current system sucks. Darken the sky and bring in the fog and call it night.
I should be able to snipe just as well during the day as I can at night. Even better at night actually because the bases would be lit and I'd be on a dark hillside. Hindering my vision by fog just to portray nighttime is ghey.

-- Nightvision goggles (NVGs) and an all-new helmet inventory slot
-- Infravision implants (IFV implant) for certain armor types that do not have a helmet inventory (ie, MAX and infil suit, possibly standard armor since the avatar has no helmet)
-- Helmet inventory slot: allows addition of NVGs or a small HUD that acts like short-range radar
-- flashlights on weapons barrels
-- Starlight optical enhancements on weapons (NVG for zooming-in)
-- spotlights and slow-moving rotating searchlights on base walls

lol
splinter cell version. go stealth and knife guys along the way. Hack the base report reinfocements and go.
Night time- its the least they could do for a new patch. i know i would play more.
Is the lodestar out yet or is it still in testing?

we should be able to aim down our sites too. Like in call of duty. this would also make it alot more accutate because it is shouldered. the cone of fire is rediculous. It also takes to long to kill someone, even point blank
Lodestar is here, and vehicle certs now come as "combos" of vehicles instead of one-offs. Iron sights are cool when used for realism (CoD is whicked, but wayyy too short for my liking), but I don't think PS is on the realism gravy train. We are cybernetically enhanced, immortal soldiers from the future, after all.

Night fights would be awsome. Also we NC have flood lights on our maxes. We would kick some nighttime ass!

OMG! This is something I've wanted for a very long time. It would be incredibly kewl to be able to sneak up behind someone, knife them or blows them away, then move on quickly under cover of darkness. I agree with the proposal to have an inventory slot for night-vision goggles/other miscellaneous items.
Try out the infiltration suit n00b, only 2 certs!

we need a sun too...nothing illuminates arauxis. GIVE ME A SUN!!
they need to tweak infiltration if/when they add nighttime. something I've been longer for for a while now.

i know we need sun, im talking about real life. 12 hours of sun, 12 hours of night. of cour it would break down in time, but there needs to be more realism. they need body shots too. in the standard suit- the one you spawn from. it should be 1 hit kills in the head and 2 for the chest. So on and so forth. Planetside has just gone downhill in my point. They need better things going.

Jagd, screw AMPs or knives, I wanna trip-shot someone's ass. *grins n00bish grin*.
Seriously, it would be pretty cool to add a level of stealth to everyone's game, whether they were an infilktrator or not.

The sporlight/floodlights should be mannable, like the turrets, with maybe a 20mm MG mounted on it. suwheet. a sixth weapon slot, with a flashlight! secondary mode would be to hit some1 with it, with half the damage of a knife, just for fun. can you imagin trying to spot an infl in the dark? a slight shimmer... I would get paranoid. hehe.

LMAO, I can just imagine Surging through a zerg with an Infil Suit, then cracking up as the entire force starts randomly firing in every direction... :D

Nightime is a bish to implement in any game. Some monitors are darker than others - what might be an acceptable nighttime light level to you, may look to me like I turned off my monitor, and Mr. Jones may be able to crank up his brightness so far that it looks the same as daytime to him (giving an unfair advantage).

I hate it when it gets dark as it is, the dark red and black of the TR and purple and teal of the VS blend in with the background of the terrain far too much as it is. I don't like having to go out of my way to determine if something is a target or not when I'm in a vehicle.

it woldnt have to be completely dark. Dusk might work. Although you woldnt need spotlights.
Think of it you are running up to the walls of an enemy base while dodging lights and sentries. Hiding behind the trees and working your way up to the top.
If there werte night goggles or a flashligh. Should they go under engineering, or standard equip?

They'd just have to replace that purple fog with the way things look during a snow-storm and that would be good enough for me. See picture in the link below.

Ooooh, I just got an idea. We coordinate all of the servers so that, on their official times (in Greenwhich) it was night correpsonding to what it actually looked like there. So on average 14 hours of the PS 'day' would be night-fighting!

Back in beta, there was a distinct day/night cycle. Night wasn't very dark but it was noticable. I'm not sure when that went away, but I also would like to see that return. Lights around the bases is a cool idea - and another than never came about was on/off switches for the vehicle headlights. As someone mentioned a long time ago ... "Imagine a stealth approch with headlights off for an armored column - line up along a hill and on cue everyone hit the headlights - sure would instill some terror in the enemy to see a dozen sets of headlights suddenly lighting up a base". :scared:

think of lasers which you can see for hundreds of feet. think of it, your behind a rock reloading your gun and look up and see 5 lasers crossing each other looking for you.
FREAKY!!!!!
and when a base loses power all the lights should shut dowen inside and all go pitch black. Go through the tunnels with a light and sparks fying out of terms when shot whick light up the way.
We need flashlights on our guns for that. that would be a nice christmas present.
Haveing things turn off and darkening of the sky would universalize PS
If anyone looking at this is a programmer for ps plz take this into consideration. WE ALL WANT IT!!!!
I played everquest on release day--I was an Erudite. All the newbies were afraid of the night and huddled around the lit, guarded villa while it passed (90 minutes or so). I was disappointed that PS didn't have an acceptable nighttime.

I think the lightmapping required would be too resource-intensive.
What the hell do I know tho.
