will we be able to play the combat simulator/training thing offline, with/without charge? Because if one couldn't pay mothly yet but they could pay 50$, could they beef up their character so as to be ready when they do enter the fray&pay online?

Character data is stored on the company's servers, not your own computer. You could not work on a character that you could then use in PS without connecting to their servers, becasue any character data on your machine is very prone to hacks, so they simply could not trust "offline" characters.

Anybody remember diablo1? Your character was stored on your computer and you use him for battle.net games. Remember what happened? Oh yah big time hacks and chaos. Everybody was either a hacker, a duper, a hacker pk, a hacker pkk, or just some stupid combination of those....
Ahhh those were the days, those were the days.............
Diablo2 just was no fun :ugh:
You like Planetside right? Like it enough to want it to do well and be cheater&hacker free? Then characters stored on sonys servers is the way to go.
