How is Planetside doing?

I quit playing just after CC was released and I'm contemplating returning. I want to know how weather or not you think Planetside is better or worse now than it was then.
I know there have been quite a few changes as of late so I'm curious how some people who still play think they've effect the game as a whole.

I'm looking for constructive input here, reply with something relevent or pass over it, I don't care if you think something similar has been posted before or what not, if you ignore it, it'll die that much sooner.

Well, for me at least, loading times were at least quadrupled. FPS hasn't changed much (for me still). I still get that fucking annoying FPS drop in empty bases. Doesn't crash as much. Lodestar is fun. The Mag and Thresher have more breaks now. Mods are somewhat worth getting. The re-certification made a lot of changes to vehicles, now more people have em. Some awsome new "In Concepts."

I think its gotten much MUCH better, especially since release. Since CC there have been many changes as well - my FPS has been stable. But that remains different for everyone. All depends on your configuration.

its gotten beter a few times a week scence CC came out and its bugs were(mostly) fixed. It gets all the Dev attention right now, they even gave us hats(to keep us warm) and lights (to make us cheery!)

Show me some proof of it losing members, all speculation ;) I suspect since the merge, and with the promotions they are gaining members now.

i just came back to ps from being gone for 2 months and it is much better. the server merge was a really good idea. there are now hotspots on more than one cont and the battles are really big.

planetside was much better when it was 1st released! i had a better fps then and didnt notice bugs! specially as i was playing raven shield. i thought core combat wud be gd in beta thought these underground fights wud be amazin! but noone seems to wanna go down there! they complain bout it bein boring, well maybe if u gave cc a chance it wudnt be! dont discourage ppl to buy cc as it needs ppl to be gd! planetside will have to add more empire only weapons and vehicals to keep ppl at it! and add like citys above ground

I dunno about that... the only reason i started playing is cause of the whole free trial/month thing. Money is tight around this time and i wasnt about to go drop some bills on a new game if i really did not NEED it... though i thought about it often. It's hard to resist a game you get to DL for free.

I've tried to even coax some friends/co-workers into playing it and for them to stop playing SWG.

PS is fun, the new weapons and vehicles make it even better, but the caverns dont get much attention, i dont like em, they lag, my 2 cents

Fairweather Johnsons really piss me off, but some people are just emotionally inept and can't handle the downside. It's understandable, some people just get fed up and need to take a break. It's not an insult, just a fact of life.

I haven't left Planetside since I first got my beta account. In all this time, including super-TR-MAX beta, there has never been a time that the game ruled more than it has now. This is an awesome concept, an awesome idea, and the game itself is thoroughly bad-ass.

The things incorporated into this game, along with upcoming features, just make this game better and better. And people who piss and moan about it sucking, can suck-it and take a hike. There's no comparison to this game, there is no substitute or alternative. People have to understand- this is a revolutionary concept, the first of its kind. OF COURSE it is going to be plagued with flaws, bugs, or problems. And of course there's always going to be a flock of malcontents who whine and gripe about everything.

If you're considering coming back, and you're looking for affirmations that it's changed, I'd say "Yes, yes it has". Come on back, the door is always open to people who have seen the light.

Now that the servers have merged, the game has been fun again for me. I don't know the numbers, but I see a lot of lower level players around. Some may just be alternate characters, but it seems like there are some new players joining the game. If I had to guess, I would think that at least the population is holding steady.

For me, fps has been up, lag has been minimal, and populations are high. :thumbsup: I think a lot of people who were fed up with the CC disaster are slowly drifting back.

I think, personally, its getting a bit better. What they need to do, is add a AT aircraft. I am not doing to go into details, but itd be cool.:trrocks:

before the CC release i got bored of it, because the battles seemed to go indoors alot, there were seldom outdoor battles, commanders thought there was no point of having outdoor battles so they just crammed everyone into a facility helms deep style. then when the enemys came it was just cover the doors and wasnt much fun, bases would get blockaded and the whole continental army would just be crammed into one base unable to get out, now the battles are mostly outdoors and its gotten really fun

My thoughts exactly--battling over terrain with vehicles is a definite win.

I want to come back and prolly will but man magazines really hate this this game CC got a 2 lol and Planetside was rated like 6 on top ten disappointments for 2003.After that it made me reconsider but I'll still prolly come back

In GI, PlanetSide got a 9.5 and PC game of the month in May. Pretty good rating if you ask me.

I just came back to PS a couple days ago (haven't played since release) and it's way better. I haven't crashed yet. My FPS around bases is tolerable now, even with a lot of people and vehicles around. The biggest difference I notice is battle size. The server merger greatly increased server population and it's no problem to find large battles.

For me, the game is 100% better than it used to be.
