Me no like Macs or Apple. Macs only good for programs that can't afford to crash, such as Avid or Terragen.

Three words... Final Cut Pro
But the Ipod does look kinda cool. The girl that i'm seeing want's one. I'm usually not a big Mac person, but I think they hit it big with the Ipod.

And soon enough, Casey Neistat went back to the Apple boutique and bought a new iPod for $400, which, he says, "is totally unfair." He took it back to the office and showed it to his brother, and they vowed to find a way, Casey says, "to get back at them." But the beat went on, and that's what counts most in a world gone iPod.

I really don't see what the big problem is. Say you bought a portable DVD player and the battery went dead... if you were out of the manufaturer's warranty, they'd do the same thing. Why is it so "special" when it's from Mac?

because you dont see many DVD geeks running around... but computer geeks are everywhere!!!! and well all know what happens when humans with too much free time do when they have grudges!!!!

True, but I'm pretty sure that Mac does offer an extended plan on items like the Ipod. He could have purchased it and he would have been fine. That's what I loved about being a tech at Best Buy. People would refuse to buy the plan when we offered it. Then after a year and a half (which is the normal shelf life for most small electronics), something fails, they want to return it. Sorry... don't think so. Shoulda got the insurance.
**Shrug** Not everyone has to agree with me, but the insurance plans are like insurance on your car. You hope you never have to use it, but it's fucking nice when you do.

Don't you mean water bottles.
So let me get this straight. iPod "rules", but you need to spend $400 every 18mos?
Mmmmmkay. Funny, you can buy new cell phone batteries, new cordless phone batteries, new PDA batteries, you can buy batteries for everything BUT an iPod. That sounds like a great investment.
I can put 2hours of music on my Pocket PC, and I won't be dicked out of $400 when the battery gets tired.

Both those guys are morons. Typical that a mac user couldn't figure out how to change the battery.
Obviously you never buy anything with an integrated battery. FFS, liths only last a year with heavy use, that guy was lucky it made it 18 months.
I'll stick with my good old Rio, 256meg built in, a handful of 128 cards, and good old AAA batteries. Swap the cards with my PDA and my camera as needed, it's the only way to go. Plus, the thing is much smaller and waterproof.

I'm far from a mac fan, in fact I hate the damn things. I used to spend as much time administering 20 macs as I did 400 PC's at my job. After 2 months of running they degenerate into a large paperweight, and need to be rebuilt.

I couldn't believe this guy got mad enough to stencil negative statements on every ipod ad in sight, and yet he still breaks down and buys another bloody ipod. Is he that fashion brainwashed that he can't stand up for his principles in light of the bulkiness and extra weight of any number of hd based mp3 players?

Uhhhh... the Ipods are what already, 400? So if you had the same Ipod for 5 more years, that's 900 dollars, 10 years, 1400 dollars, not worth it if ya ask me, especially charging 100 dollars for a battery that prolly costs 5 to make, if that
