View Full Version : How should the buggies be changed/improved?

It would seem that the general opinion is that the buggies (Empire specific, and to an extent the harasser and skyguard, and to a yet lesser extent the ATVs) are not fun to use, both in combat and non-combat situations. What single aspect do you think should be changed to BEST improve the "fun factor"?
Explaination of poll options:
1. Better armor/firepower
Self explainatory - the buggies should be able to dish out the damage and take it too, even if they can't go toe to toe with a tank under most circumstances.
2. Better manueverability
Better accelleration, hill-climbing, turn radius, etc.
3. Better top speed (and accelleration)
All the buggies get faster, making top speeds range from ~72 kph (Marauder) to ~95 KPH (Harasser), as well as an accelleration boost to the extent that they reach top speed in the same amount of time as they do now. The ATVs would get a slight speed boost just to make sure they remain the fastest ground vehicles.
4. Physics engine modifications
Make allowances for buggies (and other light vehicles) to, for example, "handbrake" and skid around, or make them able to get massive air, or whatever. Might want to specify how what you would like if you vote this.
5. Something completely different
Give em nitros or something, whatever. Post your suggestion if you vote this.
6. Buggies are fine as-is.
Empire buggies...I would give the ability to manufacture without a tech plant.

Maybe if the phsyics engine is touched up then we could be able to skid or so forth to make quick getaways cos its a bitch doing a full turn when trying to get away from rocket bombardment.

id love nos :D but i think they be givin totally new models(only harasser and ATV's). cuz my thought is they could use a better model. not to say that the ones that are in the game now suck :p :huh:

For enforcer: I say up manuverability and acceleration to that of pre-nerf. Give the thresher tougher armor and the maurader more ammo.
Also... make turrets stop shooting them if they go half speed or lower.

i realy don't know, they are just so messed up, i would reveamp the physics engine so they could do rally card type things and give them better Acceleration and handeling. Then make it so you can get them without a tech plant. A

Er... You can ALREADY get the empire buggies without a techplant... either that or the outfit mate who picked up his marauder when we only had Azeban (Dropship center on Amerish) is/was a strange flavor of cheater or imbued with superpowers. I was bitzin about them needing a techplant and hoped they'd change that soon... and he said "they don't" and got one out... :huh:

He probably got it from another cont and/or the sanc and got a lift from a gal.
But to the buggies
Empire spasific is fine as is, maybe more speed when going up a hill for the Maurader.
As for the Harrasser and ATV's, I just see them as transportation with defenses, never should they be used in assult(I think, besides maybe the Wraith for behind the scenes).
But maybe the ability to change the type of gun on the vehicles like rocket or shotgun barrels. And the handbrake thing would be usefull. Maybe that would be implemented if they ever make air vehicles do flips and stuff.

Id say definetly a type of "nitro" system. Most air vehicles have afterburners, why cant ground vehicles have a boost system? Well, I guess it would be a little over-powering... being able to drive into a wooded area, run over a few grunts and then you accidentally hit a tree making you stop dead. Then after the grunts realize whats going on and pull out their deci's you BOOST out of there at top speed unharmed.
Definetly more climbing ability for ALL vehicles, its so frustrating to be flying around in my Lightning then see a enemy tower on a steep hill... i fly over and hit the hill... and stop dead. Then have to hit reverse and find a better place to climb up because the dumb thing wont climb up it.

I'd improve the physics engine. Make better get aways and will really show who are the l33t drivers. Chases would be more tense too.

I think their fine and love mine to death, tighter turns might be better, also anyone else have the problem where youll make a jump and your buggy will just decide to throttle down, really annoying as some of these hops are rather small and our only defense is our speed and manueverability.

Yea, you can already get them without a tech plant (Empire specific; Skyguard still needs a tech). I think the thresher's gun really needs faster projectiles; its damage and RoF are fine, but you can't hit anything with it. I think all the buggies could do with better handling/speed.

I think the buggies are a blast! My only beef was the tech plant limitation which was dropped. Only thing left I suppose would be a tweak to the Ground Pounder and some sort of tweak for the Thresher gun

Although I have driven the Thresher alot more since the cert bundles, my largest pool of exprience is still with the skyguard. I love driving this thing.
I wouldn't mind being able to drive up hills easier still, even if they just made them better for it. By second vote would be, for new physics stuff, such as power slides and bootleg turns. They could even add a new cert to allow people to do this, much as they are thinking about doing with aircraft.

Fondly known as my sniper buggy. My favorite loadout for it has sniper bullets stashed around the flak ammo. oh yeah and non of that panzy machine gun ammo for me. We are about shootin' guys in the head and killin' birds.

i think the Enforcer's missles should have Heat tracking. i'm not saying make them super agile so the can hit a mosquito ten miles away, just have them be able to home in on the biggest heat signiture. people could still dodge 'em, it's just that the missles could better hit a target while on the move.
if not that, then i'd settle for not getting stuck in all those holes that seem to infest the countryside of solsar, and many others. i mean come on! "rolling hills" does not mean "violently angry holes".

a buggie should be a cheap, easy to get solution for driving around like a maniac. same for the ATV's. I say disable crash damage on those things. sure, if you crash into a rock, tree, bunker, veichle, bullet, misile, or anything that doesn't qualify as terrain you should take damage, but this whole "jump 3 meters and stop to repair" thing just sucks. cutting their health by a quater to balance that won't stop ppl from certing it since it's the ultimate toy, imagine searhus :D
