i was thinking. we have gernade lunchers. we have rocket lunchers. we DON'T have a flamethrower. but, this is planetside. where we have all sorts of things. so a flamethrower would not fit in. but a plasmathrower would. one click would shot out a small "ball" of plasma. if you hold it down, it would shoot out a stream of these "balls". i think it would be pretty cool. what do you think?
also, some specs. am thinking a clip would last, if you hold down the trigger, about 6-8 secs. the total amout of damage out put would be around 200 HP. plus the "burn" plamsa gives you. so you could kill about 3 poeple with this before reloading. now, reloading would take about 1-2 secs. also, the the balls of plasma would move a little slower than the lasher orbs. so it would be a IN YOUR FACE type of gun.
am thinking this would a good gun to clear bunkers (if bunkers get guns in them), towers, spawn rooms, CC room, stair cases, lobbys and the like. now, a box of ammo would be the size of a pniex (NC anti ameor thing) box of ammo.
comments? suggjustens (i know that is not spell right)? (NO! i will not right "fl*mes?")

Now I could be wrong but from what I heard a flamethrower was already attempted in the beta stages of PS. But the devs removed it because of the lag issues it caused. Atleast thats what I heard.

yes ,they did have a laggy flamethrower(damnit wish i knew about PS then :p)
but just use the plasma effects for this weapon  i mean , it is a PLASMAthrower,so , there go's the hole thing about lag , also, the boxes should be the same size as standard boxes, but only about 5-7 secs worth of flamage

the box size was so that the gun did not get over used. but i guess that could be the norm size. :groovy:

:pyes , i just said that becuz i hate the big boxes, they mess up my inventory space, if i have a weapon with a big box, then i always have space left over  but with normal sized boxes im happy

Think about the plasma effect that grenades throw off. Your telling me 6 seconds of that, in your face, wouldn't lag you? No, a flamethrower will never be implemented as long as everyone doesn't have the same system.

then for the smaller systems , have a low, medium,or high cuality of plasma and flamethrower effects.Low would look like the flames in teamfortress
EDIT: also , i have no probs with the plasma effect , my computer runs faster when i am hit with 1 ,so nananananana :p

I personaly dont like it. Amagin the greif. Its like the Jackhammer on secondary mode that doesn't have a delay.
I don't like grief and this I know that plasma grenades give you a lot of it so I wouldn't use the weapon.

It won't happen. Besides, your system is flawed, there would have to be damage degregation, balance issues, how many people would use it? what would it do against vehicles? I made a "what if?" thread about flamethrowers. If firefly comes by, maybe he'll say what he did in that thread, I forget.

It wont happen. Planetside will shut down before we have the technology to run realitic flames in a MMO environment.
