View Full Version : What are some games you would like to see as MMO's?

So I'm bored and I think this question could result in some good ideas. Me personally, I wish they'd make one based on the time period during the events of Deus Ex 2. Man that game kicks so much ass, the only thing it's missing is multiplay.

I would have to say Arcanum, or maybe Fallout. Another great setting would be the entire Forgotten Realms world, Faerun in an MMO would beat ANYTHING.

Hmm... lemme think...
KoTOR's world would be a nice MMO
They're already making a Matrix one...
Let's take a great RPG and imagine an MMO for it, the Elder Scrolls series
A LotR MMO would also be good

There'd have to be a lot to set a LotR MMO apart from the rest, as pretty much every fantasy epic borrows from LotR :/

LOTR (it's in work, MEO). A Law Enforcement game. or a WWII game done fucking right.

WW2 done right would rock.

I wouldnt pay for a DC MMO, imagine the idiots of FPS games, combined with the losers of MMO games. You would have a team-killing, spawn-camping, vehicle-whoring, bitch-fest. Unless they completely changed the dynamic of the gameplay, and made it something more like planetside (vehicle certs, and bases), then it would be worth $50 a month :D

a ww2 MMO would own like planetside but better....every month or something would be a battle from the actual war...like D-day beach landings or... Stalingrad...stuff like that would be cool  it'll never happen :(

Fallout would be cool (/mourn Black Isle)
Dungeons and Dragons.
Rules are 3rd or 3.5 edition complete with all the classes and published prestiege classes.
Set in the Forgotton Realms campaign setting and ecompassing the entire continent of Faerun with everything to scale. Maybe just start out with Waterdeep (With Undermountain etc.), Baulder's Gate and Neverwinter and the surrounding area. Then open up other areas to expand upon it as popularity allows.
Have events like the Dales being invaded by the drow, the drow invasion of Waterdeep, the Orc Hordes assaulting Mithral hall or the Time of Troubles.
Create some sort of leveling system where you can trade in old levels/characters for bonuses/equipment on new characters to keep the replay value or perhaps allow people to retire extremely powerful PCs creating new cities/kingdoms/dungeons etc. Allow those dungeons/cities/kingdoms to stay only for a certain period of time with extensions dependant on their popularity to avoid the idiocy that happened with player houses in Ultima Online.
Slow the leveling process a bit to keep it interesting (if you know what you're doing leveling in DnD is a cakewalk).
Epic levels are in and eventually open up all the planes including the layers upon layers of the Abyss.
Keep the option of it being first or third person (because trying to launch a fireball at enemies 300ft away from 3rd person just doesn't work too well).
And probably most importantly? Find a good talented developer to create the game, SoE or Square-Enix being the best bets but don't let them bastardize the rules horrendously.
So much potential in a Forgotten Realms MMORPG. The entire world is already there, complete with one of the most indepth fantasy worlds out there today. It honestly amazes me that Wizards of the Coast hasn't attempted to cash in on this yet.

Actaully there is already a DND MMORPG being made, but I'm not sure if it's in forgotten realms.
Anywho I wouldnt want SOE or Square-Enix touching anything D&D, I say leave it up to a company like BioWare who already made most of the D&D games to make a presistant online Forgotten Realms. Personally I was always really interested in the east part of Faerun, since the western part is so widely used. Take a look at this continent map I found:
http://apocalypse.cybergames.it/faerunMap.htm
The area in the centre, around the sea of falling starts looks like a good setting for a D&D MMO game.

Yea i remember that, oh look i randomly get pulled out of warp and ate by vrix of levels 7-20 lower then me but in swarms of like 100, what fun. That and they screwed over miners.
I'm looking foreward to the Matrix MMORPG will be intresting to see if they do it right.
Fallout online or Arcanum whould own, definitely mourn blackisle, but maybe Troika will pick up the license and the mostly finished Fallout 3 (How retarted is it to shelve a game with a huge fan base mostly completed for console games that you havnt even started working on yet, hello, a PC to console port is easy if you want to do that market!)

I played EnB during beta. It was pretty fun. I was a lvl 50 Progen explorer... Ah good times... I also remember finding the most powerful lvl 2 missile system, that could not be purchsed, then replicating it, and selling them to people. I was the richest person in my guild actually, mostly from asteroid prospecting, well until they made it less profitable. Yeah, good times, I also absolutely loved the combat system in freelancer, that game was so pretty too, would have made an awesome MMO.

Naw, that would be lame, not enough content from one movie alone.
Yeah EA started to make a "MMO" Battle Tech game. It was called Multiplayer Battletech : 3025. It wasn't really a true MMO though. You got to pick between the IS houses, no clans sorry. Each House had their planets which basically were just servers with a unique map for that planet. What you'd do to claim a planet, if I remember correctly because it's been a long time, was join the planet and pick a room to fight. Each planet I think had 6 or 8 rooms and in each room it would be 4 vs 4. So you would only be fighting 4 vs 4. Not really "MMO." But the more battle your House won gave you control % over the planet. So you'd just have to win a lot of battle to take a planet. It was a fun and addictive game. I could have used a lot of work yet, but the DEV team got laid off.
What I want is a true Battle Tech game. With not just the Mechs but the tanks, infantry, fighter jets and what not. And throw in some space combat too.

I have been thinking about it, but an MMO set in the C&C universe would be really cool. Maybe post-tiberian sun. Now that would rock.
MMO Mechwarrior 2-esque game haunts my dreams.
