Hello Everyone, just wanted to say that I am brand new to PS. I have not even installed the game. (Given that its 3:15 in the morning and I just got back from my girlfriend's house) In the morning I plan on installing it and playing. I am totally new to the types of online games where you have to pay per month. Also, this game seems to be really indepth in gameplay.
I don't know what faction I should join. (Need some advice on that :D ) Also, if someone were to help me out on what certs I should get first, so I can be just an average ground soldier...that would be really nice.
Well, thanks for all who help me out and I look forward to playing with all of you.

Hello

Faction is up to you read the discriptions of each one.

You should go and do VR training (both vehicle area and shooting range) and use everything and get in the gunner seats of al the vehicles too and this should bring your battle rank from 1 to 3. For certs I recommand that you get medium assault (2 certs) so that you can kill because the standard weapons sucks and the rest is what you feel like using it on.

Faction: depends on what kind of gameplay you like

TR: Fill the air with as many bullets as possible
NC: Hit them as hard and as fast as you can
VS: Move fast so they cant hit you

if my memory serves my correctly.

I thought NC were slow?

You should install it now and start d/ling the patches so when you wake up you can get on playing.

But go to VR trainging to you could begin gaining free xp. After that get medium assult no questions asked. Then with all the weapons/vehicles you've played with in VR should give you a favorite, but choose wisely. Choosing certs is like math, ya gota add em up.

Ex) I was a vehicle guy, so I gota Reaver, course now you could get just Air Calvary and get Reaver and skeeter(nickname for mosquito). And since I got 56k, I needed something with a big blast radius so I got a MAX. So on so forth.

Be smart on what you want.

If your weapons, I'd sugest getting Special Assault and for your next cert ATV, Harasser, or Ground Support so you could move around without some one pushing you around.

If your ground vehicles.....well i'd really sugest none, I think they are the worst to pick first. But if you have to, Ground Transport, if guys need transportation, your likely to be in a squad.

Oh and another thing, get into a strong outfit.

And while I'm at it, dont start leading squads untill your BR10 or higher.

I would sugggest br7 or higher I don't see why you should wait until br10 to lead squads I got cr2 at br10 or 11.
Edit: Or maybe 12.

1) choose an empire.

Vanu - one ammo type. energy weapons. rely on covert tactics and hit and run strikes. Many say they have the best max.

NC - All infantry weapons are best in class, except perhaps AV which is still best becasue its so fun to use guided missiles. The ease of NC play leads the NC to be less tactical in my opinion. Generaly considered to have the worst maxs, but have an excelent tank.

TR - Spray. Lots of bullets everywhere. The most powerful tank, and the best defence maxs. Fairly poor AA max, but their infantry can carry a rocket launcher which locks on and can be used as AA.

Once you've choosen what you think you want to play, do the offline training. Then go online and use all the weapons and vehicles on VR. Once you;ve used all the weapons, pick up a max suit and go and kill some stuff till you get a few more battle ranks.

With the new CC vehicles and weapons, not to mention if you go to a base check out the turrents, cc, ect. you can easily get to 4.8

Yeah I'd get med Assualt, then it's up to you on what you want.

For empires, they're all balanced.

NC: Power per shot (shotguns, tank has 150mm)

TR: Damage (faster fire rate) high rof, 100mm on tank, but has double cannons for fast firing

VS: One ammo type, so very versatile in combat, and they use agility in most tings (yanks hover and can strafe, but low gun power)

Hello.

Remember, running over people in a vehicle is a valid way to get kills, I recommend certing in an AMS specifically to do this. AMS mowing will help you make friends and influence people.

VS seems to have a better feel in PS imo, because all theyre weapons are like more in the future, like PS is supposed to be: IE all of their guns use plasma (or whatever that is, it looks like plasma) like the Pulsar, Lasher-making it harder for enemys to loot and use that.

Plus our tank and buggy hover :p

But i've never really seemed to play NC or TR that much, so I cant give you info there :)

That is not the only way to survive, if your good you could kill people with any weapon. For example I kill Lasher and Jackhammer users with my sweeper.

I installed and registered and used to account key for the free 30 day subscription, but when I try to play it says that I have not registered. What is going on?

Gigabein

You need to register a Sony Station account. That requires a credit card number among other things I believe.

Don't listen to what the guy said about ground vehicles being a bad idea... they all fill their nitches well and are very fun. If you do get any vehicle cert, definitely get the basic Engineering cert so you can retreat and repair your ride.

I would suggest trying out everything (not just in VR training). Get a grasp of how all the various jobs and roles work out on the battle field, and stick with the ones that are fun and work well together.

You should also check out the empire propaganda sites if you have some time to surf. They're a fun read and fill you in on some game history. The TR seem to have the best portrayal of the history and the VS give the best account of the current situation on Auraxis IMO.

What server do most of you play on? I was just wondering, because when my 6 hour update ends , I would like to be able to play with you guys so you can show me the ropes.

shaizan

The folks here play all over on all three servers. When you get loaded up you will see Markov (U.S. West), Emerald (U.S. East), and Werner (Europe). My reccomendation (and I'd wager most other folks) is pick the one closest to you. This will minimize your ping and improve your experience. Unless you had friends tha played on a server, but you don't as yet. :D So, go with the closest, choose <plug> Vanu Soverignty </plug> as your chosen empire and go to it.

Oh, yes do ensure you visit the VR traiing and get the exp from it to start.

Madcow

I think most play on Emerald primarily, although many of us play both Emerald and Markov. The bad part about wanting somebody from here to show you the ropes is that most of us on here are only on the site because we're hiding from work at our jobs, and can't play right now.

Ok, well my update went quicker than expected...it finished in like 15 min :D. I chose the NC on Emerald, since I am on the east coast. I really do not have a powerful computer, but it still runs absolutely great. I always hear about everyone saying that it lags a lot and its slow, but its seems to be fine for me.

Oh yea, my name on there is BipolarG0d. The second "o" is a zero.

If you go VS get the Unimax right away. If you join the NC get Heavy Assault. If you go TR... well just don't go TR.

If you havent bought CC yet, dont. Its the biggest piece of shit out there.

30 bucks for 3 weapons and 3 vehicles that you cant even use all the time.....not worth it.
