View Full Version : SOme fun things that would make game play more interesting

I just though of some interesting things that could be realy fun/interesting

The pheonix is a recoiless rifle and if ou ever look at the back end of it when fired it shoots out a bit of flame! Make that falme do some (grief free) damage to anyone within one meter of the back of the Phoenix this is the same thign that realy RR's do.
Same for decimator
Make the lancers shot home very slightly so that you don't have to be totaly accurate(magnetic effect, not realistick but fun)

Make the guns have muzzle flashes that actualy produce light (this is improtant later)
Make the sounds carry over a distance better
Give the guns mountable scilencers/flash supressors (when on reduce damage a small bit)
Give the MA wepons different types of mountable scopes (4x zoom, 8x zoom, infared, red dot, Light Amp)
And an unde ther barrle mounting system (mounts for Punisher like GL's, flare luanchers, bipods, hacking healing and repairing tools, flashlights)
Make the headlights give off real light too
Make the vehicles sound carry better

Implement a helemt accesory slot (all armors except infil and standard) for mounting of night vision, targing enhansors, CUD's, infared.

Give the base/tower turrets spot lights

And 10 more favorite slots (or giveing each one we have now a night alternative)

And finaly (if you haven't gussest it already) Night cycles! To do this i propose a Situation similar to that of earth. Take out world map and put a band accross it from north to south (size so that each full day night cycle on each cont takes about 4-5 hours) and have it move across from east to west (or vice versa) over time so the above cycle is realized. this band along the edges has a dawn/dusk zone.

So what do you think?

Mountable flashlights had better not be real particle effects. There was a weapon that did this in UT2K3, and it required gods own computer to make it run smoothly while on.

The under-sling item would invalidate the rarely-used punisher as-is.

With certain settings, the muzzle flashes DO produce light. I've had it on such a setting, though, I forget what it was.

No they just iluminate a cone infront of them. for seeing in the dark, because when a bases gens do down at night the coridors go dark how sweet would that be?

Of yeah some things i forgot, The Fragnade needs to do more AI damage, and the mods would not be avalible untill br20 or if you bought then for 2 cert points

how about u get the mods when u get to br15 (to make it more popular)u get them for free,or if u want it before u can make a new type of equipment that costs 5 certs(3 first for the gun mods , then 2 more for for head gear).if u get the 3 certs then it would be called something like Enhanced Inf.(EI)and if u get the 2 other certs it would be called Adv. Inf(AdvI). all this would follow undedr CE adv. med and adv. hacker in equipment :p

How about te helmet things get dished out on a BR basis, you start with NV, then at 6 you get the FLEAR, at 12 you get the targeting com(when you hit t over a target it will give you a circel were to fire if you want to hit the target) at cr 4 you get the cud.
Same thing at br 6, 12, 18 and 20 you get to chose a mod that you can use(so it wil be avalible to you, not automaticaly placed on the weapon) and for one CP you can purchase an additional one?

Lighting effect would be cool, maybe the bases could have lights out when the generators down or something for more of a stealthy effect and that would work well with guns that have light when they shoot.

So many friggen cool ideas on this thread.....ahhhhhhhhh its overwhelming night play, gun mounts, and night lights. Aaahhhhh ::seizure:: :doh:

Ya know what would make gameplay even more interesting?

No more damn bugs.
Less lag.
Better memory management (PS uses 700mb+ of ram. I don't care how big the game is, that is rediculous. The only explination for that is lazy programming.)
A grief system that actually punishes people for tking.

Lets focus on the important stuff first.


The reason the sound does not carry better is because if you could hear the gun shots of every gun in giant battles your ears would bleed. You don't want planetside to sound like real war. It would not be fun.

If they used "real lighting" for vehicle headlights and muzzle flashes your frame rate would be many times lower than it already is in big battles.

Many of your ideas require night. Others make the Punisher pointless. Some we already have, but you seem to have not even bothered to look into it.

Night in a game is a hard thing to do, how dark should it be? How long should it take? Would night on Amerish be darker than night on Cyssor? If so, why? How could we get headlights to work without being a drain on everyone's system? How buggy would night be?

Most of your ideas require people to have better systems than what they currently own. The devs don't want to force people into getting 6k computers, just so they can play one game.

I think night cycles have been talked about before here & I believe the general consensus was that it might be too large a patch presenting a whole new group of bugs. That being said, day/night cycles would be a great addition if done correctly...

Weapon mods is a sweet idea. I'm all for anything that gives the player a more unique feel and look.
